Hi everyone,

I am new here in hopes someone can help me...

I am currently living in Egypt with my husband (we got married last year) and I want to bring him back to Canada with me (I am a Canadian citizen). I downloaded the Family Class sponsorship guide, read it and I don't think I can sponsor him because I didn't make the required income last year as they are stating is required to sponsor someone.

What other options do we have other than sponsorship? He's a doctor working at the hospital here in Cairo. We're not in a rush, but it would be nice to bring him back to Canada with me in the future.

It would be great to hear from someone who has been (or) is facing the same problem.

Thanks :)

Ameenah

Spouses are exempt from the income requirements :)

Really? I didn't notice it saying that in the guide. So you don't have to have a certain amount of income to sponsor at all if you're married?

Thanks for replying BTW.

That's right - there's no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship.

As long as you're not on social assistance (welfare) or bankrupt - you qualify.

Right, there is no set minimum income requirement but they could still refuse if they don't feel that you and your husband would not be able to support yourselves. However, if you are making some money and/or your husband speaks English and could get a job as well, there is no reason they would think that.
