I will start my application soon and hope we can share the experience.
As a start : Shall I apply online or by paper through visa application center?
Which is better /faster ?
Appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the reply and sorry to hear about your refusal :(
What was the reason given to you?
What sort of proof of funds did you submit?

Re: Any one applied for study permit from Dubai?

I got refused for the following reasons: travel history: current employment of situation: purpose of visit and not a bonafide student that will leave canada in the end of my stay.

I have provided everything, but then again my SOP I guess is not that strong.

Thats why it has been refused as they didnt understand why a 32 year old with a stable job wants to further his study..

Yup and thats the plan..

Online is better to track easier the status of your application.

Good luck to you..

First of all I am sorry to hear about your refusal hopefully you will sure get it the second time.
I would like to ask a question if you dont mind. Do the applicants from UAE need to do medical for Student Visa Application?

Re: Any one applied for study permit from Dubai?

Depends on your country of origin:

United Arab Emirates New Delhi NO
THIS IS OPTION COMING UP IN THE SEARCH.
I am working for govt dept in dubai for last 13 years. these CIC information is so vague cant drive a proper answer.
I am submitting my online application and i am stuck on this medical exam form and IMM5257 form where barcode is not coming up.
Do i have to tick yes on the medical exam form that i want to have a medical.
should i just tick NO ?

Did you check your eligibility using the online tool?
At the end , they will show you a list of required documents , was medical one of them?

1. I always read if you have to do medical , then do it upfront as it will speed the process , if your application is approved then at some time you will be asked to the medical , having it done will save you some time.
make sure you do it at an approved physician:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

2. You can provide anything as a proof of funds, but you need to be careful, they may not be convinced that you work in Dubai and do not have a bank account here.

3. try to search the forums.

4. Online as it is easier to track.

I did the test and result as follow

Students (Study permit - Quebec )

You may be eligible to come to Canada as a student.

but no indication about required documents or the medical exam required or not?

On the same page ,you should have a "Continue" button , hit it and you will asked some more questions.
Finally you will get a page where you are given a personal reference code. It should look like :

"Your document checklist

Studying in Canada – Your personal checklist
Based on your answers, you may be eligible to come to Canada as a student.

To apply online, you will need this personal reference code: GYxxxxxxxxxxx"

Then a list of 8 to 9 steps where the required documents are mentioned.

check again at:
