Is it good to go come to india right now as its tough here as no jobs here in canada now and fall semester is also online. And it cost around 1000 dollar for month here.
Please give your views.

Hello, Can you please confirm if you ere able to get through easily?
Sorry for very late reply. Yes I was able to enter the Canada easily. Process was pretty smooth. You must have a place to self-isolate.

Hello friend!

Could you please let us also know which airline you travelled through, and from which country if you don't mind?

Knowing what airlines are flying to Canada will be of immense, immense help please...since it seems like international flights to Canada are not operating at all!

Please, please respond if you happen to see this, and many best wishes on your journey there! Cheers! :) Thank you!
Sorry for late reply. I travelled in Qatar Airways from Karachi (Pakistan). Port of Entry in Canada was Montreal. I had difficulty choosing flights as couple of bookings got cancelled/rescheduled at very last minute (not Qatar Airways). Qatar Airways is operating pretty well from Pakistan to Canada.

How about spouse (OWP) and dependent children (OSP) of international student, all with with visa issued before March 18th, 2020, will travel together?
Have anyone got the information and experienced with this case?
(with well-prepared quarantine plan for 14 days)
If your visa is before March 18th. You can travel with your spouse and children. I did.

Hope u landed safely. Please provide an update. When was ur visa approved? What was your port of entry? Did officer question u why u r landing so early for sept intake? Your information will be very helpul. Thnx.
I landed safely in Montreal (Port of Entry). Process was pretty smooth, you just have to keep social distancing on airports and wear mask all the time. I was a returning student it is my last year of PhD so I had explanation if asked. But officer did not ask anything.

ALL THEY ASK YOU IS AN ADDRESS (you must have an address) FOR SELF ISOLATION.

Glad to hear that you landed safely. They don't ask you much must be because you already had a valid study permit (which means you have ties with Canada). For first time students, it might be difficult and chances of being denied at the port of entry are high

Yeah, may be. I saw couple of people who were going to Canada first time through same flights with me and they didn't have any issues either. But they were not on study permit, they were "immediate family members" of Canadian citizen/Permanent resident. So for first time study permit holder, it might be a different case...

But that doesn't make sense for a whole lot of reasons -

1. There's nothing on the IRCC website related to travel restrictions that says anything like that.

2. And there's no point in denying entry to people who have online classes as ALL students in Canada are having ONLY online courses predominantly for the Fall.

If online courses is the issue, then they must either put that up on that website / deny entry to ALL students for the fall term.

By that metric, it doesn't make sense for current international students to be there in Canada now, as even their courses are online.

3. IRCC is actually saying that PGWP won't get affected if we do online courses due to Covid. If pgwp is not going to be affected, then how will entry be a problem only because our courses are online? In fact, even schools in some provinces are shifting to a part-online system for the fall.

4. They have actually allowed exempted people with the permit obtained before 18 March & proper isolation plan to actually enter the country.

The IRCC website, which from all that I've seen till now is not frivolous & they actually implement what they put up, - shows rule of law with the many modifications & adjustments that they're doing so that students' studies are not affected due to Covid.

5. Why include a group of students with permit / LOI obtained before March 18th at all, if they're going to be denied entry on the basis of online courses? When all courses across universities n the country are anyway being held online?

And what's the point of having EXEMPTIONS to the restrictions if they're denying based on Omline courses?

I go by the IRCC website - if it says anything regarding denial ONLY DUE TO online courses, then we need to see.

The issue for international students is to get operational flights, if they're otherwise eligible as per the website, there's no reason for CBSA to deny entry. This is if we strictly go by the website.
Hello!
There is always the disclaimer that the boarder officers can decide whether a person is allowed to enter to Canada (e.g. USA also) or not... despite a person holds a valid visa (even before Covid)....
I Think (read it just as a vague idea) that they do not want more International people within The country for now.... because in spite of a person makes a 14-day quarantine that doesn’t mean that person is not contagious (some people haven’t showed symptoms at all and they have Covid).... so if IRCC has counted the online semester valid for the PWGP It is because (between other reasons) they Maybe prefer students to stay at their home country until all this situation has passed... don’t surprise if in July or the coming months They decide something new or different .... unless there’s an infallible vaccine I think everything will be complicated for traveling not only in Canada but in the whole world.... please this is just my opinion, I know I can be wrong.... respect to my VISA process I haven’t received an answer from IRCC despite my fingerprints were provided in December And they approved my medical results in February.... then the Covid came to all America and I’m here waiting for news about my VISA For Summer 2020 hahahaha... I had to defer my studies to Fall 2020 and it seems that I will have to defer them to Winter 2021....

Now that I re-read your post, IRCC and CBSA do mention that only essential travels are allowed besides being exempted, but the way they put their information on the website, including posts on Facebook and Twitter, is really misleading. Just want to say we're in this all together.

IRCC - "The following foreign nationals who are currently outside Canada are exempt from Canada’s travel restrictions and can travel to Canada if they are travelling for a non-optional or non-discretionary purpose "
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/service-delivery/coronavirus/temporary-residence/study-permit.html

CBSA - "
Arriving from a country other than the United States
If you are a foreign national arriving from a country other than the United States, to enter Canada, you must prove to the CBSA that you:

  • are listed as being exempted from travel restrictions (including immediate family members)
  • are travelling for a non-discretionary (essential) purpose
  • are not presenting signs or symptoms of COVID-19
  • have a plan to quarantine for 14 days, unless exempted"

Hi Everyone,
i graduated from Dalhousie in the month of may 2020, my study permit is valid till November 2020, due to medical emergency I had to return to India for treatment and i am still recovering, I have also applied for pgwp while I was in Canada, in the current COVID situation would I be able to travel back to Canada on student visa?

i have heard that the airline people are not allowing to board even if we have valid study permit which is approved before March 2020, mine was approved September 2018.

please let me know If anyone else is in the same situation or help me with your valuable suggestions on how to proceed.

thank you

Please update us if possible.

Btw, I have tried to search on Google as well as Twitter, it seems like there are no posts regards intl students are denied entry (not denied boarding of course) to Canada. I'll travel on July 4th, but I hope that I won't be the first one sharing that I was denied entry.
Hey, hope you reached Canada safe and sound. Please provide an update. It will be very helpful for lots of us. Thanks.
