Any lebanese who received a Residency Questionnaire who were successful in obtaining a record of movement or travel History from Lebanon? My husband authorized a friend to get it for him (Via the consulate in Toronto). However, the officer in Lebanon whom he approached, told him:"I don't see why he can't come here himself", even after he told him that the person concerned is in Canada! He is trying other means, but, nobody seems to have heard about it. Any suggestions?

To clarify the chain of events, are you saying that:
1. your husband went to the consulate in Toronto,
2. the consulate inquired with an officer with Lebanon,
3. and the officer in Lebanon who said that you husband would need to go to Lebanon to get a travel history?

Or are you saying that a friend of your husband's went to the consulate in Toronto to inquire about a travel history?

I have been trying to find this information as well to add to the RQ blog.
http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/records-of-movement/

So far I have only found specific info for UK, USA and Australia.
One person reported getting a Mexican travel history by contacting the consulate, and others reported that the EU (Schengen countries) do not keep these sorts of records and thus cannot provide them to citizens.

My sense is that travel histories are not available from many countries and thus many RQ-recipients are unable to include them in their responses. If you or others find out otherwise, please let me know. It's sad to see one RQ recipient after another having to "reinvent the wheel" and figure these things out for themselves.

He went to the consulate who made a document that authorized my husband's friend to represent him in Lebanon. Unfortunately, in our part of the world things are not so clear cut :( I will let you know if I ever get it!

Thanks for the clarification Purple shark and good luck to you and your husband. Please do let me know if there's any sort of official or standard process to get Lebanese travel records. And just as a side note, it's supremely ironic to tell an RQ-recipient that they have to leave Canada to collect documents proving that they're living in Canada.

This RQ world is full of ironies!

I suggest including something in the cover letter like, "I have contacted the Lebanese consulate to enquire about getting an official Record of Movement. At their suggestion I have legally designated a personal representative in Lebanon to enquire in person about the receiving this document. To date, no one has been able to provide such a document or clarify any official process for requesting one. Some have suggested that Records of Movement are not available from the Lebanese government. I will continue seeking ways to find this document and I will send it to CIC (Montreal/Glen Mills/Vancouver/wherever) if and when I receive it. If I am unable to locate such a document, I will inform you by letter."

I'm not sure if that accurately describes your situation, but it would be good to say that you are doing your best to provide this document and comply with the requests of the RQ, but that you may not be able to do so due to issues beyond your control.

Also, I just updated the RQ website with models of RQ cover letters: http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/rq-response-form-letters/

Good luck.

Thanks, eileen. I definitely have to include the letter. BTW thanks for your website, I've been looking there before :) Hope you find all the answers you are looking for.

Hi Purpele shark,

Please let us know , answering RQ without record of mouvements from lebanon and with cover letter functioned with your houseband?
In another term, did your husband received any positive answer from CIC (test date, or oath)?
