I mean even if I don't want to continue application for another period should I still meet the 5000$ requirement? So in this case, how can I return the money to CRA?

You needed to meet the requirement to receive ANY MONEY. If you didn't, then you need to pay it back.

Hello everyone,
I have a question about CERB and I hope you can help. The employer shut down the store due to COVID since March 31 and I applied for cerb and received the money. Because the eligibility period is from March 15- April 11, I am worried if I don't belong to this eligibility period and I have to return the money? Btw, in case I made a mistake is that considered a crime?
Thanks
as far as I understand if they found out that ur not eligible but they already give you the money, you need to pay it later on.

Thanks. But CRA phones aren't working. I think I have to wait.

They are certainly working. My husband spoke on the phone with them this week.

Why do you think you would? You never worked in Canada? Maybe ask what benefits are available through your government. To get your PR you would have had to have funds to support yourself? This is not free money.
I was wondering if I would qualify for the CERB. I have recently moved to Canada (Dec 2019) through the Express Entry program and I'm now a Permanent Resident. However, I don't have any employment income in Canada since moving here. I do have income in 2019 back in India but that is before I became a PR. As a new immigrant/ Permanent Resident, who is yet to start working in Canada, would I qualify for this program?

Hi @scylla,
I've a question related to this topic. I landed in Canada in Aug'19 and started my employment on 30th Jan'20 till 13th Mar'20 and temporary laid off now. I did not earn $5,000 in Canada during this short duration which is one of the conditions for CERB. But, I did earn around $8,000 back home in 2019 i.e. between Jan'19-Jul'19. Do I qualify for CERB in this case? I've shown this $8,000 in my 2019 tax return of Canada as well. Please suggest. Thank you.
Nope

I have been looking around the internet for information as to whether temporary workers would be covered and cannot find anything definitive. Regardless of the definition of 'worker', the word 'Canadian' appears everywhere. So...we really will just have to wait and see what it means. I will add that it's interesting that even if I am eligible as a temporary worker, my hours have been reduced to 5 per week which makes me ineligible for the benefit anyway since you must have zero employment income. People like me would be better off not working at all. Crazy system.
Ssorry you are not a Canadian resident. Ask your home country for help

Also incorrect. It is clearly stated that foreign workers and international students can qualify if they meet all of the requirements.
