Hi all, I’ll copy this next paragraph from my first post for background :

First a Very brief relationship history, I'm a British citizen from England who married my Canadian wife last year. I came over to live with her late last year & we are preparing our application under the "Spouse or Common-Law Partner In Canada Class", form IMM 5289E, with her obviously sponsoring me as her spouse.

We are trying to finalise our application & still have a couple of problems.

This query is on form IMM 5443, the document checklist :-

Near the bottom of page 1, under “For both of you” the 3rd bullet point asks for “Proof of your common-law relationship (e.g., evidence of joint…..). What we are wondering is, can we mark this as “n/a” & not provide anything here, as we are married & have enclosed a copy of our marriage certificate (as requested by the 1st bullet point here)? It might seem obvious to someone else, but we just want to be sure & get it right. We would really appreciate it if someone could guide us here.

Once again, many thanks to any & all who can help us.

we included a joint back account
we included a life insurance naming each other.
you can include a joint lease or mortgage.

Better to include more than not enough.

If you submit a "common-law" application then "NO" you cannot skip that step. Why don't you just submit a regular "spousal sponsorship" application (nothing to do about common-law), since it seems you'll include your marriage certificate anyway?

What are you sending about proof of relationship .A marriage certificate is not enough. They need to know it is a real marriage not a marriage of convenience
