Hi everyone...

As you know, it takes very long to prepare the sponsorship application, because of the huge amount of relationship proofs that we all have to gather. I noticed that within the past 2-4 months that my wife and I have been preparing the application, CIC has updated the forms approximately 2 times.....that's kind of annoying as I have to keep copying and pasting information from the old versions to the new versions (hundreds of fields!), worrying that our application could suffer from some delay if I were to submit outdated forms.......

So it looks like filling out the application forms should be the very last thing done, after gathering all the relationship evidence then?

How do you guys do it?

I did them all a week before after making sure they were all the correct ones. I read them, hubby read them, my mother read them. And I checked before we sent them off to make sure they were the right ones.

I don't mean I didn't fill them out before hand (2 months earlier) but I redid a bunch of them a week before.

fandv,
I feel your pain! I researched daily to make sure I had the most recent forms when I submitted our application. But between the time I mailed our application package and it arrived and was opened at the office a few days later, forms had been changed and my entire package was returned with a request for "current forms". The only difference on the new forms was a new form number and an increase in fine print which meant the page breaks occured at different places and I had to transfer the identical information, email the new forms to my husband in Africa, hope he finds a place with working printer, ink AND paper all on the same day, not to mention working internet, and have him courier them back for a small fortune to avoid the one to six month snail mailing time!

This was back in April. My fear with this majority government was that the overnight changes with immigration process/procedures would continue to happen. Seems that is, in fact, the case. I am so sorry for your experience! Sounds like a good idea to prepare everything else, then print/complete the most recent forms just before sending it in. You may still run in to the problem I did with forms changing between mailing and receipt, but I think it's your best bet. Best of luck to you!

Same thing happened to us, fortunately our lawyer caught it when they did their last check before submitting it and we only got set back a couple of days rather than having everything sent back. I think it's ridiculous that they'd send it back when the only change is where the page break is.

although im not a fan of using Imm consultants/lawyers, it is far less painful than dealing with beauracrats. Look at the bigger picture !!!!!
