Yes again. About one month. But, having said that the estimation included the late strike, the overall processing time must be shorter I guess...

Total number should be 115(Ankara) + 1312(Damascus) = 1427

Before Ankara was Heaven, however when they closed Damascus and transfered everything from there Ankara's situation changed.

Plus there was an unexpected strike, which slowed down their application processing times.

Before they were issusing spousal visas to Turkish Citizens in 2-6 months in standart cases, now this time is increased to 4-12 months. For Iranians it's longer because of the security/criminality checks.

The good thing for everyone is: Ankara do not ask people to come to Ankara for an interview in normal cases.

Just be patient, the majority will receive their visas in an easy way. Good luck!

Just got my sponsorship approval today ;D I am so happy eventhough it's just the beginning ;)
It only took 20 days but I'm sure it would have been even less if there were no Holidays (Remembrance Day) .
Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that they ARE working :)
Good luck to everyone :)

Well the important question is: How many employees does Ankara have in their visa section right now?

In 2011 they had 2 Canadian Base and 8 local staff in total of 10 people working at their visa section. They were all responsible for immigration matters, such as skill worker, business immigration, family, spousal & refugee applications, plus student and visitor visas & all other Canadian citizen's passport applications, new born registations, lost PR's and Passports, etc.

Before 2 people were processing family and spousal sponsorship applications. I don't know how many extra staff came from Damascus? Because 2 people basically can't process 1400 spousal and family files in a year. Nowadays students and visitors are applying their visas via VFS Global. Therefore temp. visas section are more relaxed and don't spend any time for correspondence.

If they want to melt the backlog these temp section officers should help other permanent immigration apps including family and spousal files. However, according to CIC waiting times they're OK with 15-16 months as an average time of spousal files, and I don't think that they care about working more faster.!

What you say would only make sense if people would get their applications approved/refused in 15-16 months.(so basically full length of the application process). But it is not so, we currently see people get it even at 7-8 months during strike(!!), which is great. I wouldn't be doom and gloom. I think 6-7 months is pretty safe prior to being reuinted with your loved ones. I already did 9 months so far only 3 of them (or so) in process, so trust me, its not just that I want to be with my spouse (I really do), its also the simple facts looking at average processing length.

Today I got refusal for my spouse TRV (Temporary Resident Visa); I applied for her PR and got sponsorship approval in August 2013 and the application forwarded to Ankara in August. I was wondering if anyone of you has had the same experience as me in terms of TRV refusal after sponsorship approval. Should I apply again for her TRV? or should I wait for her PR application? I even bought the ticket for her :( that is really sad. Any help feedback would be appreciated.

I personally think you should have applief for TRV prior to PR application because now theres no way you going to get a TRV(VERY slim chance) plus you making it look bad on your file.
As it stands, I would suggest waiting.

But when I talked to my lawyer she told me that the chance of getting a TRV is very high because my wife is a student. She suggested that I apply for GCMS to know the exact reason of the refusal and then after a month that I get the results try to see the exact reason and try to satisfy it, do you think if it is worth doing ? She also said this application (TRV) will not have any effect on the PR application, what do you think? She said that this refusal is not bad because it caused them to take a look at her PR application. Any comment/feedback would be appreciated, I really feel frustration.
