This isn't exactly family sponsorship but wasn't sure where else to post. All of my mother's ancesters were from Quebec, Canada. I have several generations, including first settlers, on my family tree. They eventually moved to Maine which is where I was born. My husband's ancesters also settled in Quebec/Ontario. Will this help us with immigration?

How far back were these ancestors?

There's a self-test here that you can try.

Hello @bluerose1959 there are some countries that will allow passports/dual citizenships by descent but there are rules and restrictions. Do a bit more googling and I think you will find your answer. Please share it back if you get something solid.

I'm in a similar boat actually. My dads mother is a first generation American. My great-great grandfather was a naturalized canadian and my great-grandfather was born in Quebec, canada and married a canadian. So I am curious. Probably not, but worth looking into .
