Hi guys,
I sent them an email to tell them I am outside Canada However they said ok but they have the following message:

An absence of Canada has been added to your file. Please send us proof of your departure from Canada at your earliest convenience.

Please send us a copy of your plane ticket, boarding pass and passport entry stamp after your return to Canada.

Did you told them you moved to outside of Canada, went on vacation or what was you situation? Did you update your address to a new address abroad or did you keep your Canadian address? I'm sorry I don't have any help to offer but I am interested to hear more, I will be telling them also soon I am going outside of Canada for few months.

So what is your concern if you told them you’ll be outside Canada ?

Regarding the topic.. If I am informing them via web form that I will be out of county for a while (not sure about the time yet, it's vacation/ I'm on maternity leave also), how I should word it?
I will also have address is Canada, but also have a new address in my home county where I'm going because it will be few months or more. Home address in Canada and what would it be called where I will reside abroad..? Sorry this is a bit silly question but I don't want to jeopardize my application with any misunderstanding.

Seems that nowadays they are adding absence period in the application which will jeopardize.
As your duration is not clear, dont inform them yet. Go abroad, think about it and then decide on it. I dont think this needs to be done in hurry.

A2: Only the five (5) years preceding the date of your application is considered your eligibility period.

I think they could simply claim you are absent from Canada and stop the processing of your application until you come back. You could be travelling for family matters or for cheaper medical treatment but it doesn't matter for some officers. Every thing is good in the file but this applicant could be abandoning Canada!

Yes I used the form as indicated in the AOR. I also attached my flying ticket!

They are changing travel restrictions [see here]. I just learned that they are not allowing PR holders to leave and live in other countries, even temporarily (if I understand it correctly). I am not sure what are the implications on renewing PR and on the citizenship applications, though, but adding to your citizenship file that you are outside Canada is a new procedure, I believe, that might have some implications

^ I don't know if that's the conclusion I'd make from that link; it just sounds like to me they'd like to discourage people from the "soft landing" practice during the pandemic, to curb the contagion.

Its for the people who are not yet PR(, not yet landed).

Every day you spent outside Canada is an absence:

Calculating physical presence for applications received on or after October 11, 2017
For applications received on or after October 11, 2017, under paragraph 5(1)(c)(i) of the Act, the applicant must have accumulated at least 1095 days of physical presence in Canada within the five years immediately preceding the date the applicant signed the application.

• The calculation of physical presence cannot go beyond the five-year period before the date of application.
• Each day of physical presence in Canada as a permanent resident counts as one day.
• Each day of physical presence in Canada as an authorized temporary resident or protected person before becoming a permanent resident, counts as one half day, with a maximum of 365 days credit towards physical presence.
• February 29 (leap day) is counted in either presence or absence.
• Absences will be calculated only for days where an applicant spent no time at all in Canada. Dates where an applicant left Canada, or returned to Canada will not be counted as an absence since the applicant was physically present in Canada for a portion of both days.
• Time spent serving a sentence and absences must be subtracted from the total number of days of physical presence during the five-year period.

Thanks you for your input! I will be going on my vacation to see my family and go from there. Also depending on the covid situation who knows how long the trip will be.

By the way, on the exam, one of the guys checked the box stating that he is physically present in Canada while he wasn't. after the exam, they are now asking for his arrival and departure pages, so I think he is under the threat of rejecting his application for 5 years!

This interpretation is wrong. Once you submit your application they calc your days from the date you sign your application. Period.
