MashAllah congratulations. I was wondering if you did anything special to receive your visa because I filed it a little before yours and I haven't received anything back yet. I have requested GCMS notes and if it take any longer I will apply for temporary visa. But I was wondering if there are other venues for me to take to speed up the process. My documents were all in order and I provided more pictures and telephone bills then they requested. Also my wife is an Iraqi citizen how about your husband?

Thanks!

I think miss minis husband is syrian that could be the reason but i might be mistaken.
yes that's right he is syrian and although he's currently outside that country our residency in uae will expiry very soon and we said that from very beginning, so maybe they did consider that; he didn't do military service so less background checks there but he had so many business trips and travelled so much and i thought it should have taken longer
our case is truly different because of our different circumstances; i never read of anyone in our situation applying through damascus or amman and i'm around this forum since 2010; at the beginning i was very open and so many discouraged us, saying it will never happen but i always believed in ourselves
that's why i tried to prepare the "perfect application", i did it from a-z but his letters he wrote them in his own words; we did all without lawyer but did spend weeks reading cic website and this forum; it took us 1 year, we paid attention at every detail, organize it as best we could, send a lot of proofs and tried to explain everything; maybe it made a difference, maybe no, at the end we can just speculate; now i can say that sending more will not make the process slower, at the end if they don't want to look over they will skip; on the other hand if u trust urself and u know u have a straight forward case than no need to send too much, just the basic;
what we also did was never bother them with any email, we emailed just once back in july cuz we didn't know where the file was and had some important updates; they answered and we saw from the gcms notes (back in sept) that they did put those updates in file; since july nothing from their side until today
once we get the visa - my mind is focused on that now, i'll give u more details
i'm sure u'll all get sooner or later, especially Khalid, there is a magic day for each of us, just live every day as if u won't get it that day and then u'll see, when u do get it, u need to completely change ur short term plans :)

hey everyone i have great news!!!!!!!! today my partner got call from someone in the embassy, very nice guy his name is Rami or something like that; at the end they even talked in Arabic :D initially it was very hard to believe that the call was to say we have the visa; the first instinct was to tell him that he's ready to answer any question and if they need any more proofs or updates we are ready to provide; but the guy said no, you provided more than enough and the visa is ready to be picked up!! i can't believe, i'm still in shock and without much to say
don't worry guys and ladies soon u will all b done and i wish u all the best of luck
by the way, ecas says still "in process" so don't rely too much on it
also, i'm with him outside Canada and can't believe i'll finally go back home!! we plan to go to Jordan together to take the visa in person but it looks that i need a visa; is it true? ::) do u know if Canadian citizens need visa? what abt Syrians? (before they didn't need but now everything is different)
i'll come back with more questions for those living in Jordan :) and i'll gladly share more if u need; soon the gcms notes will come so if any of u is interested i can give u an insight now that i have overall view;
aa and also our expired medicals were extended automatically for one more year so for those in the same situation i suggest u to wait them contact u and don't redo them anymore unless they tell u to
big hug for all! stay patient!! good news will come!!

Congratss.. im so happy for you

Hi guys,

Is there anyone here who applied for Quebec skilled worker and is now waiting for their PR visa or it's just for spousal here? I sent my PR application in Jan 2012 and till now there's no update and the embassy is not answering my emails. The e-cas says "we received your application for permenent resident on 27th of January 2012".

Any information is appreciated.
Hi
I applied from Danascus VO (QSW) on Jan 2012 and got UCI on Jan 13. My e-cas says nothing and haven't heared anything since then.

thank u mohammed yes i guess what u heard is right; if we do manage to go to the embassy next week i'll try to see who is from where :);) the problem is i'm afraid they will give us headache at the airport :( he's afraid that, because he's Syrian and there are so many Syrians refugees and Syrians entering Jordan, they will ask a lot of questions and make our life miserable; did any of you hear stories like this?
i would go alone but i read that it's not advisable for young women to travel alone; like i should know from before the taxi driver, etc but i know nothing ::)
the embassy officer advised us to use courier but that will take loooooooong :eek:
so for now i'm in a dillema, any advice is welcome :)

hope all of you will hear good news soon!! stay patient

Hi miss mini here are some of my observations from my vacation when i visited my wife.

1) DO NOT DRIVE THERE EVER, trust me if you do you will wish you never did! people there drive horribly. there are no rules no respect to right of way its often crowded and its hard to find parking. take a cab instead !

2) be careful of taxi drivers. : you need to watch out. Tourists will often get scammed. Taxi drivers love picking up tourists because they know tourists are often clueless and have no idea about the roads. they usually drive long roads or circle many times to bump up the fare. a rule of thumb is that 3-4 JD will take you from the beginning of amman to end if your paying more than 3-4 YOU GOT SCAMMED. expect from amman to the airport youll pay around 20 JD. if you feel you got scammed you should deny paying and call the cops and they will assist.

men are dogs they love harassing and staring at women. i got so annoyed by the younger males there. they would stare at my wife in a rude and disrespectful way making my blood boil.

hide your belongings, always put them in your side pockets. ( no back pockets) there are many pickpockets especially in downtown Amman. im

ill post more when i remember :D

btw your best bet would be to get the hotel taxis. you pay more but get better service and youll not get scammed.

Congradulation Missmini and best wishes and easiest and safest arrival in canada. Most hotels and the embassy are downtown amman and within walking distance. Across the road from Embassy there is also air ticket office and they can book a fast ticket to canada at a competative price. I do not remember the name of this office. as for hotels u can easlily check in the net and there are tens of hotels for $20 /a room . there are rooms for rent . just check in the net and u will find what u need and I think you can book too. Good luck . Please share with us whatever information you're going to get. We desparetly need that. Thans and good luck for you and your spouse.

thank you samaseemo, lots of good details :) for what it looks now, we'll go together!! we don't plan to stay long, just one night, hoping we'll get back the passport in the same day; so for sure we won't drive there and we won't have time to go around at all;
staring males r everywhere in middle east, here in UAE the arabs don't even have the top position lol but the "good thing" here is that they just stare, they r afraid to do more because of the strict rules; they will rarely harass; and even if they do, ignoring or some threats that u'll call the police works; it's not comfortable at all, but u still feel safe
as for the taxis, yeah for someone who just arrived in a new country the last thing u want is to start arguing with them and call the police ::) once we'll book the hotel i'll try to contact them maybe they can arrange taxi for us; we plan to take the closest hotel possible to the embassy, even if it would b more expensive
as for belongings, i'm surprised; i thought in muslim places they should b afraid of stealing; but anyway we have good experience from europe or north africa, the most important is to keep our passports safe :);)

if u remember more, i'm waiting :) good luck!!
