I got my Confirmation of PR on Nov 5 2012, Its been almost 2 months and havent gotten anything yet. Planning to visit my family back in the states.. can I still come back without the PR card? or should I be applying for travel documents? Thank You for your help!

I think if you are driving "confirmation of PR" attached to your passport is enough for re-entry. As I know confirmation of PR doc is not recognized by air but it can be used by road for re-entry. Call canada border security for confirmation.

As per post above you can use your COPR and US ppt if returning to Canada via a land border. As US Citizens are visitor visa exempt to Canada you can also fly back. The check in agent will think you are visiting..they may enquire more on this if you have a one way ticket...explain your situation but be prepared to buy a return portion ticket..airlines do this so if you are bounced at the border return costs are on you. Once you get to Canada CBSA agent will establish you are a PR and admit you. To avoid issues when/ if you later apply for Citizenship get your entries into the US and Canada stamped or if you are say using Nexus keep a record of the print outs. Have a good trip!

Just a minor observation: if one uses a Nexus card for airplane travel between Canada and the US, there is no receipt that the passenger retains -- it must be handed in to a border agent prior to leaving the customs hall.

I'm not sure if one retains a receipt for Nexus travel by road.
