I am a Canadian living in Lousiana. My Husband is American. I have had permanent residency since 1987. He just accepted a position working in Thailand and his schedule will be six weeks on and six weeks off. He is in the aviation industry. My mum is elderly and we have thought about moving to Canada to be with her and my family because he will be away and his employer does not care where he lives as they pay for his transportation. We have a home here in Louisiana.

I am trying to think through how we could manage me being in Canada with my mum and when he comes home being in Canada with us. Move there? Just visit? Keep our house; sell our house?

I went to Immigration site and just about got a migraine trying to figure this one out and I know the immigration laws have changed.

Any help would be greatly appreicated??

For now, I suggest your husband do regular visits to Canada. Keep or sell the house is your decision.

I am still trying to figure out what the problem is. Your husband I am guessing is a US citizen. So he can visit Canada anytime with his US passport. Also, you can file for a Canadian PR for him since you are a Canadian citizen. So what exactly is giving you migraine on the CIC website?
