Hi,
I'm American and My fiancee Canadian lives in Quebec. We want to get married in Quebec and I will stay to live there and apply for PR. I'm going to Canada one week before the wedding.
Am I allowed legally to pass the border if I tell the officer I'm going to get married there?
I know most people say not to mention I'm going to get married. But If it is legal why shouldn't we mention it?
I don't want to take any risk that deny my entry.
Also, If we left Canada for Honeymoon, can I enter again?

Thanks

I’m an American who got married in Canada last year. When you cross the border the most important thing is to be truthful! That said there is no requirement to volunteer information that is not asked for! I was driving to a friends house a few days before the wedding and when asked where I was heading ( I drove my car from Washington state to Vancouver) I truthfully told him I was heading to _______ house then a few days later flying out of Vancouver airport for a trip to Panama then back to Bancouver to drive back to US two weeks later...which was the truth. I never mentioned getting married but..... if asked specifically WHAT I was going to do while there those 3 days before flying out I would have been truthful.

Long story short is I went to my friends house.... stayed 3 days then got married to my husband and flew to Panama for honeymoon. Flew back to Vancouver and drove out when I told the border guard I was leaving. No problems!!
