ambiguity about skilled work experience

hello,
i had ambiguity regarding the duration of my work experience.
i worked under one NOC (3112) for 1 year, and that was full time, continous and paid.
then i took a break for further studies and other issues for 3 years
i went back to work in a different NOC (4021) after this gap.
in this job i worked for 2 years and 8 months, continous, full time and paid.
after this i quit the job again.
how many years of experience should i be stating in my express entry application?

If you can obtain reference letters from both employers, you can claim 3 years and 8 months

Well yes I can get reference letter for both jobs..but the jobs are under different NOC..the statement says "continuous, full time , paid under one NOC"
How to explain that statement?

that's just to be eligible. If you have 1 year in any noc continuously you're eligible and you claim more points for any other job you had.

You need to choose one as your primary NOC. But both NOCs count as skilled experience.
