Hi All,

First of all thanks Saki and Punjabi for the reply on this post http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/very-imp-original-documents-t49203.0.html

Starting this post so that everyone can read...since this is a bit different topic..

IN the 'Document Checklist' document..CIC has made a change..

1) I downloaded the same document 4 days (about) back from CIC and the 12th column stated i.e . "Other documents (to be submitted by all applicants)", stated the following:

"Visa office specific document checklist for the visa office that serves:
-· your country of nationality; or · the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year.
- The visa office document checklist can be obtained on CIC's website at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled-mission.asp.
This document checklist (use it as the cover page) Submit only the documents requested on this checklist."

2) Today I saw this document on CIC and the 12 section states:

*(not sure if the image will show)

So I will write also: It states

Gather and submit to the CIO all the documents listed on Both checklists: THe CIO checlist and VO checlist. Now the format for this 12 section is 'COpy' not orginial. But the VO (new Delhi) checlist says original reference letter, original PCC, and IELTS IELTS.

Therefore, I am still confused whether to send copies or originals.

Saki, Punjai and other seniors please advice.

Copies, you will have to eventually send the originals to the processing office. Really don't know how the transcripts in sealed envelopes are being handled.

It was my understanding from talking with the Call Centre that CIO would forward the package to VO Specific if you qualify. I do not understand when they would be requesting the originals in this case. I would follow exactly what the VO Specific checklist requests (original, sealed envelope, photocopy, notarized) and send it in the first package to CIO.

Thats my point which guideline to follow. CIO states all documents including what VO asks for and in the format it says 'copy'. The ND VO says original reference letters. Now what to do. Should I send originals or copy.

Hi Pippin. I got confused. There was a topic before in regards to this. It was mentioned to send only IMM Forms, PCC and IELTS as original. I think you were part of that thread...

Hi,

I would say follow the visa office checklist and send originals to visa office and send copy to CIC ( only send original IELTS and PCC to CIC rest copies only)

Cheers
Saki

Yes, we've had lots of discussion about this. Possibly in the FAQ thread and one started by CHIA. I talked to the Call Centre and was told that we only send one package to CIO containing documents requested in BOTH checklists, post 26 June 2010. That package is forwarded to your specified VO if you qualify. I think the word COPY in item 12 of the CIO Checklist is misleading and found it easier to put it out of mind and just follow exactly what instructions were given for the format of documents in the VO Specific Checklist. It is too early to know if they are happy with that interpretation or not, but it made sense when little else did, and fingers are crossed that it is accepted as sent! I've been away for a bit and haven't caught up on all the posts, but has ANYONE had any feedback apart from the ones whose NOC is no longer in the 29?

Hmmm. Just to confirm, so we send what is also asked in the VO? If it says original, we ignore the "copy" in the CIO checklist? Also, from your own gut feeling, were you satisfied with the answer by the Call Centre? I asked because, I think there was also a thread (you were in it too), that mentions something like people in the Call Centre gave conflicting information :)

Yes, you are right. The first woman I spoke with at the Call Centre gave me information that sounded more appropriate for the pre-26 June application, with a second package to be sent by applicant to VO on approval of CIO. How would this cut out the 120 days they talked about in the Backgrounder? This made no sense to me at the time and that is why I spent another morning calling to double check. I spoke with a fellow, J., at the Call Centre a few days later and he clearly stated that everything went to CIO at once. As both CIO and VO request ORIGINAL IELTS documents how else could this work? It is a pity that the directions lack clarity and create so much anxiety as a result.

This I find a bit confusing also. Do you have to include CIO checklist AND VO specific checklist when submitting documents? If CIO requires 2 photographis and VO specific checklist requires 4 photographs, must you send 4 or 6?

This forum is a sufficient tool that answers a number of our questions. My approach would be to follow recommendations of senior fellows and then write a cover letter explaining unclear areas. For example, if CIC checklist asks 2 photos with one requirement (e.g. name, height and eye color), while VO one requires 6 photos with name, DOB and date photo taken, supply both, you probably won't miss (and include explanatory note in your cover letter on discrepancies). I am sure visa officer will understand.

Hi Pippin. I just thought about something. Going with the understanding of CIO asking only copies from VO checklist, it still cuts it by 120 days. One is, if they need to investigate, they can ask for the originals. Knowing that the originals are already in your possession, because you were able to provide the photocopies, they don't have to wait 120 days. They can ask you to go to the embassy with a few days notice, to show the originals. thoughts?

Hmmmm, blueray, my thoughts, apart from I've got to get a life? I guess I just go back to Appendix A, VO specific doc which says, "DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS unless otherwise stated". When you go through that checklist the stated ORIGINALS are transcripts in sealed envelopes, letters of reference or employment, IELTS, PCC, Bank Draft, and Photos. That seems pretty clear until.....
you read the next line in Appendix A that says, "Send notarized photocopies of all documents EXCEPT the Police Certificates, which must be ORIGINALS." I could spend the whole evening running after my tail now! So you ask me for my thoughts? I think Canada Immigration should ask a senior in this Forum to review the application documents so that all the confusing instructions can be clarified. Your thoughts?
