WE took a trip to Japan for vacation and got this all done.

We submitted everything in March 2012, I was approved for Sponsorship May 2012 from CPC- Mississauga. SHe received her PR through CIC-Manila in November (Tokyo Office closed for some reason), a letter came in the mail with CoPR.

So while in Japan, did you have to wait a couple of weeks for the new Koseki with her marriage to you recorded?

Can someone say definitely what documents a Japanese national needs for the process.
Just their Koseki ? Their Parents Koseki? Birth Record ? Marriage Certificate?
I am a bit confused...

You may wanna check out IMM 3913, which is the regional guide for Japanese principal applicants:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3913e.pdf

In particular, check out checklist item 8 ;)

Re: Am I on the Right Track? Canadian Sponsoring Japanese Wife. (UPDATE + ?)

So I just got back from Japan last week... Finally got married!! It was a great trip and we had a ton of fun.

Now, we're getting ready to send in the application.

Question: The photos of the principal applicant are supposed to be signed. Do they need to be signed in English? English + Japanese? English + Japanese + Name stamp?

Does anybody have experience with this? My assumption would be in English, but I am not sure.

Thank you again for ALL of your help. Without this forum I would be A LOT more stressed.

Thank you!!!!

Everything you submit must always be in English or French! So if putting info on photos is a country-specific requirement, then you can be guaranteed they want English/French. Remember nobody actually processing your application in Manila will understand a word of Japanese!

Again, putting the final touches on the application.

Wondering if we are missing anything, or not thinking of anything.

We have all of the things from the checklist and for proof of our relationship, with the application and all documents, police check, medical check, koseki tohon and translation we are attaching 37 photos from various points of our relationship, various locations (Canada/Japan) and with various family and friends. We're including 4 emails, 5 chat transcripts, 11 cards/postcards, boarding passes from our trips to see each other and photocopies of passports showing entry/exit of Canada and Japan.

Additionally, we have a letter from my wife, her mother and her best friend who has spent time with us as well as letters from me, my mother and a friend of mine who has spent time together with my wife and I.

Is any of that overkill? Not enough? Are we missing something painfully obvious o something not so obvious?

Thank you!!

Looks like a pretty solid application to me.

The only additional thing I would include (if you have it) is some kind of joint financial statement. This could be either a joint bank account, credit card, or life insurance with each other listed as beneficiary. Showing your shared financial interests are a great proof since it is factual and not open to interpretation.
