Am I going to be able to keep working? - BWOP

Hello everyone,

I wondered if you could help me. I have been reading through the posts on this board, and whilst so helpful, have left me slightly concerned about being able to work straight through from open work permit I am on right now, to the BWOP and hopefully PR.

I am applying for PR through CEC and have most of my documents ready to go. I am booked in to complete my language test on June 8th which unfortunately was the earliest slot available.
After waiting on the results and getting the rest of the application looked over by an immigration consultant, I hope to send off my application by June 24th.

It seems as though 4 months is the standard wait time for AOR, so I am estimating that I might receive this around October 24th.

My work permit (IEC working holiday visa) runs out on October 29th.

I plan to apply for the BWOP as soon as I can, but if there is overlap between my work permit running out and BWOP being granted, can I continue to work? How long is BWOP taking to be granted? From what I can tell it is 2 months, but that seems to change. And in those 2 months, if the other work permit has expired, does that mean no working at all?

I would really appreciate any help at all.

Looking at Jan and Feb 2013 applicants, AOR is taking around 40 days to come.

In my understanding in those 2 months (if you have applied for BOWP) it is considered implied status, and applicant can continue to work until a decision is made on BOWP.

People are receiving AOR about 6 to 8 weeks, so luckily you will receive yours sooner than you are planning. And once you have applied for the BOWP I understood than you can keep working until the immigration makes a final decition on your application.
Well, this is what I understood so far

Thank you! This is so helpful. I'll keep my fingers crossed it is closer to 40 days to receive AOR, but if not it is great to know I can still work on implied status.

I used to help a friend of mine to apply for new study permit, Hers expired and new one was issued in a month after that date. But CIC clearly says that you may keep studing (working) while you are waiting for your new permit to be issued. I beleive same is with you work permit.

Anyhow here is a quote from the website:
"if you applied for a work permit extension before your work permit expired, you can keep working until a decision is made on your application"
