I came in Canada on student visa in September 2011. My wife being from visa exempt country got the visitor visa on arrival with me. She applied for the study permit from buffalo and her study permit was approved for January 2012 intake. So being a spouse of a full-time international student, i applied open work permit and i was issued a open work permit. The luckiest part happened was that i got the job in the NOC B. Its almost 10 Months i am doing this Job. So i want to know from the senior members that i will be eligible to apply for the CEC after completing 12 months in the job.

The thing which disturbs me is that i dropped my courses and i was idle from sep to jan while waiting my open work permit.
Seniors members yours views will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

What was your job? Also you need to make sure your work experience was one full year or more so the time you were idle will not count. Keep working and wait till you get one year or a little bit more and then apply.

Hi Gagan,

If you got an open work permit, then you dont need to worry about the courses your dropped. And you were on a study permit initially, so that is a closed chapter, dont worry about it. The CEC criteria as per Jan 2013, is 12 months of full time work- B category work is awesome - on a work permit. Count the months when you started working from day 1. Seems you have 2 months to reach the 12 month mark. Just hang in there. As soon as you get 12 months done, apply. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

Just be 100% sure that your position title and your job description is somewhat similar to the job description posted for the similar title on the National Occupation website. You can double check it below:

All the best.
