Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi Guys,

I applied for my PGWP on 3rd Dec 2014 and I got it issued on 6th Jan 2015 valid till 31st Dec 2015 (making it 7 days short of a year).

My question is since I applied for it on 3rd Dec 2014, is the period from 3rd Dec to 6th Dec 2015 counted as experience towards CEC? as it was implied status.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

How long have you been working?

CEC counts by the date. So, no.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

Been working for the company for 14 months now...its NOC skill type B job...end of this month will be 11 months under PGWP. So just wondering if the 1 month of part-time work in December 2014 while I was waiting for PGWP counts towards CEC.

The first link says:

Note: Work experience acquired while under implied status will be considered as eligible work experience under the CEC, provided the applicant continued to work in Canada under the same conditions as their original work permit until a decision was made on their application for a work permit extension.

So a bit unsure.

Thanks though for sharing.

As long as you worked legally after graduating, it shouldn't be a problem.

After you graduate, you will be eligible after completing 12 months full time work. Doesn't have to be under PGWP.

So if you started working full-time legally after graduating on dec 1 2014, you would be eligible dec 1 2015 if you worked 30 hours or more per week uninterrupted (excluding paid vacation I think).

This is how I understand it. You might want to consider consulting a lawyer for an expert opinion.

Correct, this is the only way it is count.
1 yr - 30 or more hours per week and paid vacation.

Yes. My implied status (between applying for PGWP and actually getting it) was counted in CEC. I became a PR through EE-CEC, so should be good for you too. Although, I was working full time during the implied status as well. So, if you were working part time for that period, you will have to calculate according to CEC guidelines.

Were you at student implied status or WP implied status ?

I had a letter from my university saying I finished all requirements for my course the day I last attended university in Sep 2013. I attached this letter along with my PGWP with my application. Also, in a cover letter I described that I finished requirements for my course in Sep 2013 (with a note pointing at my university letter), after that I applied for my PGWP in Sep 2013 and in the meantime (from Oct 2013) I was working till I got my PGWP in Nov 2013.

No, they did not ask me anything else.

My working timeline went like this:
Sep 2013 (mid) - finished requirements for course, got letter from univ confirming that
Sep 2013 (end) - applied for PGWP
Oct 2013 - started working full time skilled
Nov 2013 (end) - received PGWP
Nov 2013 (end) - convocated (degree issue date mid Nov; transcript clearly says 'finished course requirement in Sep)
Sep 2014 (end) - full time skilled job contract ended

So, I had exact 12 months exp from Oct 2013 to Sep 2014, and all of it was counted.
