Am I eligible for CEC....HELP??

Hi everyone.

I am searching for some information in regards to the CEC category.

In 2010 I worked in Alberta at a ski hill as a lift operator for 6 months. I then returned in 2011 for an additional 6 months doing the same position at the same resort. Then I worked in Ontario for 4 months in a supervisor role within retail. I then returned to Alberta once again to continue working as lift operator for 2 months until I had a ski related injury which resulted in me being a server for the rest of the winter season.

I see that all the positions I have previously worked are listed in the NOC, but I am having difficulty in obtaining reliable information about my eligibility.

Any information would be valued greatly.

You need 12 month experience in NYC 0,A or B positions. From what you said, you have found the NoC codes for your positions, if they fall into A or B you do qualify.

Thank you for that. I am unsure if it falls into B or C...I'm finding hard to determine which one it's falls into.

To determine your eligibility - start with all the jobs you've had in Canada over the past three years (or since you arrived in Canada if that's more recent). Determine the NOC code that best fits each job.

For each job, find out where that job fits on the matrix - http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/html/Matrix.html - using the first three numerals of the NOC code.

Cross out those jobs that aren't in rows 0, A, or B, as these don't qualify as skilled for CEC.

With the remaining jobs, sum up the number of hours you worked. Don't count more than 30 hours toward any week.

If you arrive at 1560 hours or more then that's your 12 months' experience (52 weeks x 30 hours).

I don't believe ski lift operator would count as it's NOC 6722 - skill level D.

Thanks for this information. Really appreciate it! I have been informed that you can apply for this category (even if it is not considered skilled work) if you have worked with same employer for over 12 months ( I don't know how reliable this is?

The only way to immigrate for a low skilled worker is PNP in a province where there is a low skilled option.
