Am I eligible based on my points calculation?

Hi All,

I want to apply for Canada work visa. Just calculated my points based on my IELTS score, experience and qualification.

I am getting 389 point..Is that sufficient to get an invitation or should I re-appear for IELTS.

Kindly suggest.

Well I think you should get an invite in next 4 months.

But keep checking the draws, if required you can re-write IELTS.

All the best buddy :)

Thanks Sumit. Did you get the invite? So you are saying based on this score, I might have to wait for 4 months?

Two more queries I have:

- How frequently do they come with draw?
- If I apply today based on current score, can I change my application later with new IELTS score or do I need to re apply with fresh application? Are two applications possible or not? And if I apply again with new IELTS score, will it delay my invitation?

No not yet Navi bro. We had a draw yesterday where cutoff was 481 and we had a draw last month in which cutoff was 735.

So if you see the drop in cutoff was huge. In coming draws it may not be that steep but I expect it to drop by 20 points in each draw.

- How frequently do they come with draw? Usually happens twice in a month. This week's draw is 5th and CIC is expected to make 15-25 draws
- If I apply today based on current score, can I change my application later with new IELTS score or do I need to re apply with fresh application? Are two applications possible or not? And if I apply again with new IELTS score, will it delay my invitation?Yes you can create a new profile with updated score and delete the current one. But 420 is pretty decent. No need to waste time or energy

Sumit Thanks for your response. So based on your cut off in 5th draw was 480 and assuming 15 points drop in every draw on average, till the 15th draw, it can drop till 350-360 points right?

And my score is 389, not 420 :( ...Isn't that on bit lower side?

One more thing, invitation is based on totally points and not based on who applied first or last right? The one with higher points will get priority.

See most of the applcants fall between 300-400. So 389 is decent. IF you can aim for CLB 9 (l-8, R-7, W-7, S-7) then you'll score will be more than 400.

But I would suggest you to wait for some time.

Yes ITA are totally based on score and not first come first served.

Ok Thanks Sumit. Couple of things I want to mention here..
ion
- Still I need to do my degree verification which will take at least 1 month. So by the time I will get ECS done, till then another 2-3 draws will be out and I will have better clarity on the cut-off. However, the only problem is I have to register in advance if I want to re-appear for IELTS, else one more month will be wasted. I have already wasted so many.
So what I can do is that register for IELTS again and in case, cut off till April last fall around 380-390, I won't appear for IELTS and will cancel my registration. I think they only deduct around INR 2500, so not a big loss. What you suggest?

- Second and not sure if you will be able to answer on this, I am post graduate (Master) in Engineering. So for ECS, do I need to send both bachelor and master degree marksheets to Canada or only Master will work (I think if one has Master degree obviously he will have graduation as well). Not getting clarity on this. Different people have diff opinion and WES Canada is not replying also.

I responded to you in another thread. It's better to send both. My friend did his MBA from IIT but he still sent his bachelors for assessment

I agree to this. Send both. A counselor I had a brief conversation with said that even though it might seem redundant, get it done.

I think I will register for IELTS again and depending on how situation change till April 20th, I will take a decision whether to re-appear for it or not.

2500 loss is not big considering the end result. I think I should take that. All I don;t want to miss the chance.
