Hello,

I am a Canadian Citizen working in Egypt as a Postdoctoral Fellow. It is a two year position funded from Canada to do research abroad. I have been married to Egyptian woman and I want to sponsor her to come and live with me in Canada. I don't have house in Canada, but I have a driving license (just renewed it 3 month ago for five years) and bank account. Am I considered living exclusively outside Canada? and what are the the proofs which I can include to show my intention to live in Canada after my wife obtain her status?

if you are living in a property and working in another country other than canada for an extended period of time, then yes, you are living outside of canada. if you are a canadian citizen, you can still sponsor your spouse even if you are outside of canada yourself. your application must include proof of your intentions to move back to canada immediately upon your spouse's approval.

i have same issue. Can u please mention what proof we can give to embassy to show that we will move back to canada? (my husband is canadian citizen)

letters from family in canada agreeing to help support you while you get on your feet (with either housing, food, money, etc)., research done on areas you wish to live in, communiction with a realtor, information on neighborhoods you've research, job related research, proof you've connected with a recruiter to help look for jobs, proof of savings, etc.

Is receiving funding from Canada while I am abroad consider a proof of my intention to go Canada after receiving my wife status?

No, your Canadian funding doesn't show any intent to return to Canada.

However, if it was a requirement of your funding that you return to Canada to take up a position after completing your fellowship, then a letter from the organization/university stating that would be a good proof.
