Not really. Some applicant's get asked some do not
My wife and I both were asked to do FP done back in Mar 2022 (applied in Aug 2021). Our applications were still processed around the 1 yr mark which was considered standard processing back then

When I talked to IRCC I asked the same question. She said if we requested FB that means you’re non routine. Which they requested FB. But I got my oath scheduled after 3 days from this phone call.

They also requested from my friend and all process took 3 months for him.

This is one of the things I dislike the most about IRCC. They have a clear definition of what non-routine application is on their website: Link
However, they don't always follow that definition. In your case, fingerprints were requested, so yes, your file is a non-routine file.
Does that mean your file is going to be processed faster or slower than the general processing time (8 months at the time), it's really anyone's guess. My file isn't non-routine by their own definition and it's been with them for over 17 months.

Non-routine simply means that one or more aspects of an application require additional scrutiny. It doesn’t mean that said application will automatically take longer to process. That additional scrutiny could take an officer a matter of hours to resolve. Or it could take months (especially if requests for information to other govt agencies/ countries get slowed)

I wasn’t requested FP, but because I was called for an interview back in November, I’m considered non-routine (at least, that’s what one of the agents told me on the phone). My LPP was completed 2 days after the interview on November 29th 2023, and I’ve been waiting since.

Thank you for all your valuable inputs.
Can someone share the link where there’s a guide to applying for gcms notes. Thanks in advance.
