This program is called 'Career Transitions for International Medical Doctors'

Program Description
The Career Transitions for International Medical Doctors (IMD) program provides sector-specific employment preparation and counseling services and employer outreach specific to internationally trained physicians. These services assist IMDs in accessing alternative employment in the health sector that makes effective use of their skills.


Sector-specific Employment Preparation Program

The program provides information that helps IMDs become aware of their options for alternative employment in the health care sector. In this way they are better able to make timely decisions about career direction and to create realistic action plans for employment goals.


Counselling Services

Counsellors provide one-on-one counseling to International medical Doctors to assist them in refining their portfolio and in developing their individual career action plans.


Employer Outreach

The project partners have contacted health sector employers in Ottawa, Toronto and Hamilton and are working with them to find employment exposure opportunities in the workplace. Working together, the project partners and employers are exploring possibilities for full- and part-time positions, co-op placements, volunteering and mentoring.

Being a Physician myself I was able to secure a part-time online job at MDLive. Apparently tele-health has become a grooming industry and many companies hire doctors and medical specialist to work online for them. Here's an example on Webemployed that shares some of these companies. This is a great opportunity that medical experts should explore.

Looks like many would require you to be licensed in the US or Canada.

Manitoba has been using and training PAs for a while but the Ontario programs have only recently started graduating students and the programs are very small. Similar to nurse practitioner. Most Canadians are probably unaware of PAs. Think one of the goals of the PAs is to serve communities that don't have access to a GP like a nurse practioner. Have run into one in the ER although wouldn't say that is common.

I just want to enter into canadian healthcare system while preparing for MCCEE ..

Would expect you will have a lot of competition to get into the program and not sure how much free time you will have while in school full-time as a PA. You also have to support yourself of take out loans. As for practicing medicine as an IMG, it is a huge uphill battle unless you come from a few select countries. Most don't succeed.

Hi there ! I wanted to know if anyone found anyway to get into Canada in health care and relates fields.
I am also an mbbs from India and looking to see if I can enter Canada into non clinical line which won't require mccee.
Since my family gotta move there I wanted to know my options too
