They said we can now apply for open work permit, wich we are, when you get that, does that mean you can travel outside Canada?????

Afraid not ! Open work permit DOES NOT PERMIT RE ENTRY INTO CANADA.

Still means the application is in process, I am afraid, re entry into Canada could still be 50/50.

Apply for the OWP (take approx 1 month and can be done online) and wait out the PR status. Not long now, you are nearly there.
