Hi,

So I am travelling to the Philippines next month (May) and will be back on June. My passport expires on July. I have a PR card which is still valid.

Will I have trouble coming back to Canada? Because I heard that some countries require a passport to have at least 6 months before expiry to be able to enter the country.

thank you.

Canada has no such requirement and as a PR, you have the right of entry to the country.

Since you are a PR, Canada border agency will allow you to enter even on an expired passport as long as you carry a valid PR.
The 6 month condition is only for short term visas (like tourist visa, business visa, temp foreign worker etc).

Having said that, I would reckon against trying to travel on an expired passport.
Canada will let you in, but your country won't let you out at emigration desks.

and of course an airline will not let anyone travel without a valid current passport or emergency travel document in lieu of passport. Cannot travel with just a PR card.

Depending on your passport, you might have trouble entering the Philippines if your passport is expiring so soon. Filipino citizens don't have a problem, but if you're a tourist to the Philippines, you might.
