Almost 3 months and still no AOR. Which means I won't get my BOWP. Any options?

My PR application was received on the 23rd October. Looking at the stats in the October thread, the processing times are RIDICULOUSLY long now. I can expect to receive my AOR some time in March...

The problem with that is that my current WP has already expired, so I had to apply for my BOWP back in December without the AOR, one day before the expiry date (presently still working full time under "implied status"). I posted here about it and heard from others who had success doing this, because the AOR was issued before the BOWP application was processed.

I applied via mail to give myself more time to get the AOR, however sooner or later they are going to try to process this BOWP application, find out that I don't have an AOR in the system yet, and reject it.

And then it's good bye Canada, I guess? That wouldn't be the greatest day of my life, to put it mildly.

They need to introduce a BOWP to get a BOWP if it keeps going like that.

We have the same problem, cec filed November 10th, applied for paper bowp on November 28th. Employer is willing to apply for LMIA but that takes a while and then again waiting for restoration of work permit. It's really a bad situation.

I got BOWP when i didnt have AOR at the time of applying for BOWP.. I also applied paper based a day before PGWP expiry and luckily it worked cause i got my AOR in 2.5 months..

Currently the processing times for BOWP are also slower and i see CIC has picked up speed in 2015 so hopefully u guys will receive AOR before BOWP processing.. all the very best

For the record, another member of this forum (yokies) got the BOWP and at the time it was issued the AOR had not been issued yet. See: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/september-2014-cec-applications-t237020.0.html;msg3870079#msg3870079.

I'm in a similar situation, so I really hope they let me stay one way or another!

As a last resort, you can apply for a visitors visa. So that you can remain in Canada while you wait to receive ur AOR. As soon as ur AOR comes, then you can apply for a work permit. You do not have to leave canada. The only down side is you will not be able to work during that period and ur Medical coverage will be gone until you get the work permit. But hopefully it will not come to that. I hope u get the BOWP Good luck!

I believe that statement is not correct. I don't think you'll meet all the requirements of BOWP if you are in implied status.

Max, I agree with you. BOWP is a great idea in general, but its scope seems too narrow to me, i.e. only enables to *maintain* status.

Not true. You can apply for a visitors permit and if granted, you can stay without working. But to be eligible for a BOWP, the applicant has to have a valid work permit at the time of application.
