allowed to work as a remote assistant if work permit has expired?

Hi guys,

My work permit has expired and i am currently waiting to restore my status as a visitor. Am I able to work as a remote assistant for any company that is not canadian ?

Some small income coming in would be great as I am not able to work.

Yes - as long as the company isn't Canadian, isn't located in Canada and has no Canadian customers / clients.
