In my case it was 5 days, activated on Jan 13th in the morning - received PER on Jan 18th in the afternoon.

I am October 20th applicant, NOC 0111. I am much worried after getting below mentioned email response from CIC, I am not sure what went wrong with my DD but they just said, we couldn't encash your DD.

"This refers to the application for permanent residence in Canada that you recently submitted to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Your application is currently in process; however, the payment you submitted with your application cannot be processed. Your processing fees have thus not been paid. In order to proceed with the processing of your application, we require payment of the processing fees. Payments can be made by certified cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the “Receiver General for Canada” or with credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express.)"

Please help and guide me to fix this issue as soon as possible, in addition to that please share your expert opinion regarding what steps I cleared till now after reading the response from CIC.

It seems that the DD you made is either been expired or the bank has refused to encash it for CIC. What u need to do is that cancel that DD and try to use CC instead of DD.Fill a new fee payment form and mail to CIO.Also send scan copy of fee payment via email to CIC.
