All those applicants applied under old system(before Feb,2008)

I hope you will receive the Update letter this month as it has been already passed 60 months ,strange ,usually CHC ,New Delhi use to send the UL after 4 years.

Heard from one of the member that CIC are changing rules from coming month ,which will be beneficial for clearing backlog.

Welcome to the old system caregory applicants forum. I think you are Feb,2004 applicant and it also seems from your period that you had applied from some asian country.What is the status of your application.

Hello Rimjim,

I applied at New Delhi. I updated my documents in Oct 2008, and like other applicants of 2004 haven't heard anything back from CHC.

Hoping to hear from you (in March,2010) with regard to receiving of medical request from CHC,New Delhi As now there are only 4,25,000 old applicants waiting for immigration and out of less than half of the said figure are waiting for their Medicals and visa. All the best.

I have applied in Aug2006, Is it advisable to apply in the new system. Is it necessary to withdraw my prevoius application. Please advise.

Hi Soreal,
I think it will take approx. 8 months -1 year to completely process your application if you file under Fast track system,but it is not adviseable to withdraw your old application .However you can visit the following thread for more information about some member who has filed under new system without withdrawing old application.

I have heard from my friend that canadian Govt is going to halt the immigration process in 2012(who had heard the same from speakar at CIIP seminar,chandigarh) Any truth .

You can keep two application at a time. older one and the new one - provided your occupation comes under new criteria of 38 NOC list...... but in that case you have to let them know that you have already one application with pending status...... Best of luck..

I think Canadian Govt is also taking care of old system applicants worries regarding long processing period . I am reproducing the comment of immigration minister as under:
There is still a backlog of people waiting for decisions on their applications who applied before 27 February 2008. This is the date that the action plan took effect. Since this date a further 240,000 people have applied under the Canadian skilled worker program. The action plan has been a success and has resulted in twelve percent fewer people waiting for a decision than before. This is including the 240,000 new applicants.

"Before we changed the system, we had to process every application received. Since many more people applied every year than could be accepted, a backlog was created," said Minister Kenney. "Now that we are processing only those applications that meet specified criteria, our Government is making significant progress in reducing the backlog."

As now the old applicants figure is approx.4,25,000,which came downward from more than 630,000 to 425,000 i.e. a lessening of more than 30%.The backlog consists of group who applied previous to February 27, 2008, the date the Action Plan took effect. Since then, approx. 240,000 applicants have applied to the new FSW. But even with those additional applicants, the total figure of people at present awaiting a decision on their application is still 12% lower than when the Action Plan took effect.Canada plans to greet between 240,000 and 265,000 fresh permanent residents in 2010,

Old applicants processing pending between dec 2003 to 27th Feb,2008 = 4,25,000
(till Nov2003 have received their visa's as persuming from tracitt data's)
FSW applicants after 27th Feb,2008 = 2,40,000
(approx. as on oct,2009)
AS per canadian Govt Plan to greet P.R for 2010 is = 2,50,000
This means 4,15000 applicants will be left out for P.R till the end of 2010 and now the question arises out from the data only is
that how the Immigration deppt will proportinate the figure of the applicant for P.R from old applicants.Also the number of applicants figure applying for P.R is also now 12% low than the applicants were used to applied under old system ,thereby meaning that the processing period will also cut short.

AS per my information received from my contacts,CHC,New Delhi has started to send Medical request to 2004 applicants and letter of Update documentation after March,2005 applicants.
