I am a development professional working in non-profit sector and have recently completed my Masters of Development Studies (MDS) from BRAC University. I am planning to apply for Canada permanent residency (PR) under Skilled worker category through Express Entry System.

I am concerned on one issue and would appreciate if any one can share any insight on this.

I recently heard (not sure if its legitimate or not) WES does not recognize BRAC's Master's or more specifically the MDS program as Master's degree. It recognizes the degree as Bachelor's (!!!)
Is this true?? Has any one applying under development category with a Master's from BRAC MDS program got this outcome from WES??

almost all the masters in Bangladesh except IBA MBA are not recognised as full masters, mostly considered as postgrad Certificate or post grad diploma. you can contact WES directly regarding this.But during evaluation they will ask you to provide course materials and your masters thesis as well.But max credential you can get is post grad diploma for masters in bangladesh and claim CRS points for 2 or more degrees.last but not the least, it is a generic statement, there has been instances where a private or national university degree has been completely overlooked for any evaluation, contact WES directly with your course details I.E-Modules, syllabus, structure and final masters thesis.

Dear friends,

I have received my visa (valid till first week of Feb. 2018) and COPR. I am planning to land in the first week of Jan. 2018.

I need your kind advice on my landing options. I am willing to land and settle either in Toronto or Ottawa. I actually don't have any close relative at any part of Canada. So all provinces are same to me. However, I am considering factors like living expenses, job opportunities, weather, diversity and access to higher education (PhD) in making my decision about landing.

I know Toronto is a bigger, diverse and more vibrant city. Bigger cities offer more job opportunities but the level of competition is also high. Toronto also has a larger corporate landscape, which adds to the diverse job opportunities of the city. The cultural and entertainment options are also abundant compared to Ottawa. Also Toronto has a larger Asian migrant community, which makes you feel at home. Toronto also has a warmer weather compared to Ottawa. However, Toronto is more expensive and hyper. It's a bit like London, where I stayed for my Postgraduate study for sometimes.

Ottawa, on the other hand, is less expensive and has a lower unemployment rate. It's less hyper and less competitive to some extent (correct me if I am wrong). However, many people say being bilingual gives you an edge in getting a job in Ottawa. It's also a bit colder than Toronto and many people say it's a boring city.

I will be grateful if friends in the forum help me make a wiser decision.

Should it be Toronto or Ottawa?

I am not super rich by the way! I work in the higher education sector.

Hello Everyone!

I am totally new here. Me and my wife are planning to apply for express entry.
My wife is going to be the principal applicant as she has higher IELTS Score than me ( IELTS Score (8.0).
Her ECA is already done.

I am going to apply as a Spouse. Now my agent is asking me to complete my ECA for my BBA, HSC and SSC.
I have already done all the formalities from my University Examination Controller for BBA..
HSC/SSC part is yet to be done.

My Question is, is it mandatory to complete ECA for HSC/SSC, when I have a BBA Degree?

If ECA for HSC/SSC is a must, then pls guide me with the procedure for it as I Have no clue about Dhaka Education Board.

You don't have to do ECA for SSC and HSC.

Generally it's 3 weeks after submission to VFS.

Application status We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you. Help - Application status
Review of eligibility :We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements. Help - Review of eligibility
Review of medical results :You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes. Help - Review of medical results
Review of additional documents :The additional documents you provided have been uploaded. Help - Review of additional documents
Interview :You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes. Help - Interview
Biometrics: We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes. Help - Biometrics
Background check :We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information. Help - Background check
Final decision :Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

However, from GCMS notes It was stated that, eligibility passed, medical passed, criminality passed. I just wonder why in GCkey its showing eligibility is under review. Anybody could shed some light. How long should I have to wait. My medical is already expired.

Hello I m also from Dhaka. Last week I linked my application with GCKEY. As far as I know, what u have got on ur GCMS notes, is the most recent one. I didn't get updated forms request yet. i win my appeal on September. Best of luck.

hello, I recently got PPR. I submitted my passports. But one thing is bugging me which is I didn't show my credit card debt in my application because they were not the part of Proof of funds. Now as per Bangladesh bank regulations my passport has endorsement seal against my credit card. Is it going to create any problem?

Brother..........It wont be a problem.......would u plz tell me................. how many days after RPRF payment......u got PPR? did u send hard copy of RPRF payment?
