Dear Forum Mates,

Though dollar is in crisis, Can we bring Travel Card from State Bank of India as POF? I mean would it be feasible to encash in Canada. Any body has experience or idea? Particularly about Travel Card of State Bank of India? My friend hardly could manage 1K Cash Dollar and endorsement from Standard Chartered Bank.
This is really a matter of concern. are there any senior/ seniors could provide / share their experience please?

Yes. Travelers Chq from SBI can be showed as POF. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp)
You will get lousy exchange rete + enchantment fee :-)

I tried finding someone with firsthand experience, failed so far.

Assuming you or your frnd are in Dhk.

SCB has always been like this. Wch Branch did you friend try ? Gulshan North Branch has been good to number of people I know.

After Hajj, there is always a bit of crisis I presume.

You may consider doing the endorsement from:

1. Agrani Bank
2. Bank of Ceylon.

TIP: try to get in touch with someone you know working in any of the AD branches.

You can issue DD (Demand Draft) under your name and that can be encashed once you open your own Bank Account in Canada. The clearing period can typically take up to 30 business days. Also, fees do apply; As for example, TD's fee is $30.

Any recent (within 1 month) foreign travel(s) by your Friend ? If yes, he can opt for RFCD account in BD banks.
Hope it helps.

u can declare or not, no problem at all. but obviously, u have to show/declare at least the amount as instruction by CIC. this should be more than the CIC instructed amount but not less. another thing is that always mind it which amount u r declaring in your application, u should keep it until a final decision about ur application. because at any time CIC may ask u the additional documents or updated documents which may be involved with PF. another thing is that it is fruitful to upload ur salary statement with ur bank account, this makes them less suspect that u r doing the job in an organization as u declare, u have job experience in ur application. Hope understand. Thanks.

Thank you so much Suman bhai! You have been a great help!

Dear brothers/sisters

Can anyone tell me the experience of flying by Emirates to Toronto.

Which one is preferable? Staying at hotel or staying at airport during 9 hr transit time?

How to get UAE visa from Dubai airport and how long it will take to get visa? Any visa fee required?

Plz inform in details

I've recently flew with Emirates from/to Toronto - Dhaka.

Anyway, while coming back from Dhaka, 3 of us (Wife, kid and myself) had Canadian passports and my mom had BD passport (Super Visa, not PR). Anyway, she got the transit visa (Emirates takes care of it, no fees required). We didn't have trouble going out of the airport to go to hotel.

But we faced problems while checking-in again in the following morning enroute to Toronto. The passport control officers (can't even speak in English) tried to tell me that my mom wasn't supposed to have the visa as she just has a Visitor Visa. So, we were taken to some office and they took my mom's passport and fingerprints. By the time we were finished, we perhaps had less than an hour to board.

I flew with Emirates and Etihad for at least 7~8 times for last 12 years. And I found the UAE airport officers to be most RACIST (especially to sub-continental people). I faced similar situation before as well when I was a student. I literally fought with them.

Anyways, if you have kids, you may want to go to a hotel for 9 hours transit. You can even rent a cab from the hotel for a city tour if you're interested. But make sure from Emirates that Dubai Airport won't make any fuss if you're carrying BD passport in order to land in Canada.

By the grace of almighty GOD Finally got passport back along with COPR.thanks.

Hi! We flew by Emirates on 15th Sept. from Dhaka & landed on 16th here in Toronto. I'll express my landing experience later. However, to let you know, Emirates has 3 daily flights from Dhaka to Dubai. Both evening flights are eligible for complimentary (visa + hotel) arranged by Emirates, means you don't need to pay a single penny. We choose the morning flight from Dhaka and were ineligible for complimentary (Visa + Hotel) by Emirates but my travel agent gave me a complimentary hotel which was inside the airport (Transit area), Dubai Int'l Hotel at concourse - C. After hotel check-in, we went to Emirates visa desk at arrival hall & asked for the visa to go outside. Being BD passport holder, they asked us to pay USD 104 for each to sponsor on-arrival visa which includes (Visa fees + Hotel + Entry fees). When I informed them that we were staying inside hotel even then they informed without outside hotel sponsorship we won't be able to get the visa. Then we returned back to our hotel & did not go outside but we could do that. The hotel was not bad but you have to walk a long after arrival from Dhaka flight, check-in to hotel & catch up the onward flight to Toronto. However, I would suggest you, it would be hectic to go outside if you choose morning flight from Dhaka, better you catch any evening flight from Dhaka, stay Emirates sponsored hotel (I don't know which hotel they offer, inside/outside hotel) & take the onward flight to Toronto.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

I am the other super VC client. Still waiting to hear anything from SGVO. Don't know what's going to happen and what are the chances of passing through?
May Allah bless us all with all his kindness.

Consider obtaining GCMS notes.
I guess that would give you some idea.
