Did already book the ticket? Why not you take a flight direct to Calgary?
There are lots of Airlines goes to Calgary including your China Airlines.

Dear Brother,

Usually you don't need to have China transit visa except "Hong Kong" in China region. But if your transit more than 8 hours and your airlines will not provide any accommodation in the airport area then it might required to get in the city and you will require China visa.

Further please check with your travel agent or airlines and they will give you the exact requirement on your travel related issue.

Is there any way to know from SCB whether DD is encashed or not? My application reached on November 21st and according to Global SS data, my DD should already be encashed.. is there any way to know from SCB about the confirmation of DD encashment?

You can go to the Branch, write an application requesting to know of the encashment date with your draft no. and beneficiary name. The person in Foreign currency transaction will ask you to contact him after a week. In my case he called me to inform after a week of the encashment news but did not tell any date.

Dear Brother,

Until and unless you have very good relation with SCB manager level personnel then you can get the info with free of cost otherwise from my knowledge SCB will ask to pay CAD$25 for enquiry of DD encashment from Royal Bank of Canada.

Application received --> 11-06-14
PER received --> 8-10-14
AOR received --> 14-11-14

If any seniors have any comment/ suggestion please share.

3. A decision has been made.....

Without medical request/doc request this is a negative indication - sorry to say that ....

I will suggest u to send a CSE to SG now ....ask ur file status...If possible, apply for GCMS report for better view of ur file....

My twin brother has applied for this year....He has taken his ECA from MCC....Which is the only org for taking doctor's ECA...

First of all u will need create an service request account....And then doc verification req...then ECA req....Then express courier fee (if u dont want it by regular govt mail).....each steps require specific money....So no exam is required eventually....
