Dear forum mates,
Sharing few experiences for those who are about to buy tickets:

- I explored Oct, nov and dec dates to get the idea of varied prices from different web sites (Skyscanner, Expedia, Kayak, flight centre etc. You can browse Emirates, Turkish sites too.) This also gave the idea of the flights' seat availability.
- I picked few tentative dates feasible with the best price option by these portals, and asked IOM of those dates, (They asked for 03 preferred dates)
- they replied me really fast through mail
- they got my booking in 07 days, I had few observations to make, they revised it in 14 days time, asked me money on the 3rd week, that's it.
- they asked me to drop the bank slip to their office, and gave me a money receipt. (Mr jahangir, who is probably promoted to higher post, I guess, and that's why don't use the previous number)
- they are really helpful and good, and the price is extremely cool 68,800/adult and 51,700 for my 8 years son. On the same date the official fare had been USD 1445/adult ie 117,343 Taka!!! Oneway!!!

I am thankful to that golden hearted person (who gave the info about IOM) and for saving the money to many of us, the forum mates and families. Masallah,

Allah bless us all. Cheers

Keeping your permanent resident status:

"Your permanent resident status allows you to live in Canada, but there is also a time limit on how long you can live outside the country. To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period."

This is what mentioned in CIC website.

My question is: If anyone does the landing in October 13 then come back after two weeks; then re-enter just before touching the three-year mark, I mean, if anyone stays outside Canada little less than first three years of the five year period, and then permanently move Canada. It means he is residing last two years of the five-year-time period. Will it affect the residency?

Can anyone respond. I think those who have landed and came back after a short stay can reply better.

thanks

hi azaman,
yes your idea is correct, many are doing the same, but he/will get residence after completing other formalities as well.

Hello forum mates, I've got a serious problem. Would you Please help? Emirates website says total dimension of 2 luggage cannot be 107 inches. Ours exceed this dimension. How strict they are regarding this policy? Our flight was booked in May & Jahangir bhai told us about the allowed weightage (2 luggage of 23kg each). But he did not tell us anything about the dimensions!!! :-[ we are left with less than a week now since our flight is on 29th. Dear experts, please please please suggest!!!

hi ruparupa'apa, go to airport early and check in early. When you say "exceed", by how much are we talking here? I really don't think the airlines actually care that much about luggage size (unless it's like a 6ft steel box).

we have 3 cartons of 62,62 & 65 inches in dimension & 3 trolley bags of 52 to 58 inches. If we add up the dimensions of any 2 the total will exceed 107 inches! I really hope they don't care much. :-\
