Hello
I am planning to settled in Toronto. I would like to sell my property. My question is: How can I transfer money from Bangladesh to Canada? As the country have limitations to carry foreign currency (up to 5 k USD). Please reply if you someone have idea.

Dear Nnfall,

A very tricky but valuable question! It is actually very difficult to transfer money from Bangladesh to any foreign country in legal way. The ways are very limited and there is amount restriction. Let me summarize:

1. As tourist you are allowed to take with you US$5000.00 per person while travelling to any non-SAARC country. However, bank's will only issue US$2000.00 as cash and the rest as TC.

2. You can open an RFCD account with any local/foreign bank, deposit USD there and then transfer the money to your Canadian account. However, you need to make a foreign trip before depositing the USD to this account. The transfer of USD is allowed without any restriction.

Hopefully this clarifies a little. I am not aware of any other legal ways to transfer money to Canada.

Regards,
Fuad

Did Singapore office ask for any additional documents with passport request? For my case they asked for fund summary with the passport request. I submitted on 19th May. Then I could predict some expected timeline comparing with your case.

No they did not ask for any additional document. Just passports and Appendix A, the usual.

Can anyone provide me contact information of Mr Jahanagir or any other person of IOM?

could not find anything by searching.

1. Non MRP passport OK. I dont see any problem!
2. You need to enter Canada within a year from your medical or your PR visa date, which one comes earlier. It might take a couple of month more to get your visa. Can you renew your passport? If not, you might go for a new PP.

R u sure it works? You can only open a USD account returning from outside and with the balance money of your travel endorsed amount. You can not even deposit any amount to that account. ::) ::)
So .... any idea??

Hello Mates,

GREAT NEWS!!!

By the infinite grace of the almighty, I just got my passports back from VFS with visa.

I submitted to VFS on 9th May, visa issued on 21st May, passports released from Singapore on 4th May, and collected today (6th May).

I guess this ends a 3 year long wait, and now begins another part of my life.

I have always been a silent reader of this forum and i'd like to thank all the members for their enormous contribution.

I am planning to fly mid-August. Any suggestion anyone?

Problem is the availability of tickets and the price. If available, the price would be 30% high. If you don't have school going kids, you may consider on the 2nd week of September where u avail lowpriced tickets from IOM or outside. Again if u have non school going toddlers consider august beginning as it will be too cold that time and u are in trouble with ur kids acclimatisation. Actually many issue.........u judge the best.
Salam and best regards..........cheer an maley Bari..... ;D
