Really appreciable iamorth

can you please tell me what is the different between processing fee and RPRF?

when will be i apply for first time (me & spouse) i have to pay CAD$ 1100. is that correct?

and the new generic application form question no. 7 they ask me for '' have you received your certificate de selection du Quebec (CSQ)?
what is that mean?
Processing fee is $550 per person, so for two its $1100.
It is the fee to have your application processed.
Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) is $490, paid at the very end of application.
It is the fee you pay to receive your Permanent visa.

Certificate de selection du Quebec (CSQ) is only applicable to people who has received a nomination of some sort from the State of Quebec. If you are not planning to settle in Quebec, I don't believe you would need it. So normally the answer will be "No, I have not received any certificate".

Thanks for the nice sharing. One thing to know:

which class have u traveled in Emirates and where did u bought the ticket? I heard an economy class passenger is not eligible for hotels- especially in 9/10 hour layover. I am flying on 6th June Insha Allah in Emirates. Please advice me how can I avail this facility. Do I have to pay while asking at Dhaka airport counter or I have to ask it while purchasing ticket? How far those hotels from Dubai airport. Are they providing airport pick up?

You are eligible to avail the hotel if the transit is more than 8 hours regardless which class you travel.
Just go to the Emirates city office Gulshan -01, (Just opposite to South Avenue cafe, Fokruddin Biriani, towards Badda link road from Gulshan circle 01 before the culvert on the right hand side) Its on the ground floor. Talk to any customer care lady regarding your Hotel booking, Seat preferences, Meal preferences etc. They will be doing everything smiling. The hotel facility includes free airport transfer and food everything, and its on Emirates. This office will give you a coupon booklet containing few coupons on hotel, dinner, breakfast etc.... One thing if you have kids, just dont get the essentials with checked baggage, (as you receive all your checked baggage directly at Toronto only) and you might wish to have essentials in your hand bag while on transit.

You can book your aisle or window seat, ask them they will do. You can also buy luggage allowances with pre paid service. Just explore........Happy flying mate.

There are many posts we all shared already in this forum regarding all your questions. Start reading posts from page 1500 onwards, you will find all your answers. Actually for shopping you have missed already the prime winter time, for warm clothings.

In the plane don't forget to drink enough water and juice and don't hesitate to ask for more, there is drinking water arrangement too, (beside wash room) you can use it. The air is too dry, so you'll need to drink enough water and use the moisturizer/body lotion kept in the wash room. I didn't like emirates food, it is as tasteless and disgusting as it can be, whatever you eat , it tastes like either plastic or rubber. And here first time in my life ive heard something called ‘fish biriani'.

And toronto pearson airport seemed pretty ordinary compared to dubai airport. But the immigration process was super fast, all the immigrants had to go to 3 desks in total, there was long queue but it was fast moving and the officers seemed very helping and friendly. I saw many european immigrants as well. from africa too. In my flight there was at least 5 new bangladeshi immigrant families with 2/3 kids. We had a chat while the flight was dealyed. But remember to have 2 USD/CAD for a trolley in pearson, u can give the machine 5/10 dollar and it will return the balance. Without this you can't have the trolley.

One of my friends came to receive me, his home is pretty close from the airport, it took only 25 min to reach his house, It's in Oakville City, the city is awesome, quiet and calm with many trails and parks nearby, but if u walk in the street people will think there's something wrong with u ( u won't understand it from our country or if u live in downtown or scarborough) as u r the only one walking unless you walk your dog on weekends and in the evening or you jog with headphones on. For new immigrants without the car it's nightmare here. Nearest grocery is 15 min walking and 45 sec car distance, I have Sobey's (pretty expensive i found later on). There's another grocery called Nofrills (25 min walking) is way too cheaper than walmart and sobey's. I found New comers settlement centre yesterday just beside Nofrills.

I went to service canada office the next morning i landed, got my SIN number (they'll send the card in 10/12 days), then went to the bank (TD bank), opened dual currency account, got a credit card for 1000 CAD limit they offered but i reduced it to 500 CAD. Bank service is way too friendly here, first the account opening officer took me to her room, at one point the branch manager came to greet us, probably they were surprised to see someone from Bangladesh, (not much asian or desi people live in this city), They gave me debit card right away, and for the credit card i have to wait few more days and collect it from the branch. One important thing is that for our Savings Account, they call it Chequing Accout here, gave me 4 complimentary cheque page but i have to pay cad 40 for 300 page but i heard there are some 3rd parties who can give cheque books in much lesser price. (how weird )

Right now im living in a shared apartment with 3 other indians and canadians, luckily i found it in 15 min walking distance from my friends house. His wife is a good cook, still going at least once to my friends house for lunch or dinner, still having all the desi foods like birani polao and khichuri and all kinds of evening snacks like chotpoti, piaju, wings etc, went out to a pizza store named pizza pizza yesterday, their simple cheese pizza tasted awesome and it was 4.99 CAD medium size (and their medium size is like large in pizza hut in dhaka, and cheaper too).

Got my phone connection (public mobile, cdma), any unlock phone from Bangladesh works here, you'll just have to buy a charger / multiplug. But it is hard to find a good package when you buy only a SIM, so I had to buy a phone with 34 CAD monthly package and the set costed 110 cad, (it was 20 CAD discounted as I paid from my debit card).

Milk and egg is much cheaper than other food here. U can get whole grilled halal chicken at 10 CAD from walmart and it's expensive, if you live around scanborough area, you'll get it in much cheaper price. 4 Litre milk costs 3.89 and small size dozen eggs costed 2.67 (walmart price). So if you cook at home, it should cost 100-150 CAD per person depending on your food habit.

The place where I live, there are gardens infront of every house, and people goes to sleep here by 7/8 PM (as they wake up early, like 4/5 AM to catch their office. So, the neighbourhood becomes totally dead just after evening. (although I find it equally dead even at day time :)). And there are rabbits and squirrel playing in every house's garden, they are not pet, wild animals and they are in plenty  .

The weather right now here is fully sunny but it can be deceiving from your window, as outside the temperature is 0-2 degree (should be extremely cold for us), but the hot burning summer is coming, that's the good news.

So far I'm enjoying, I'm still to get my SIN card and I got an offer from walmart, but I guess I have to decline it as it is a bit far from where I'm now. Feb-Mar-April is the hiring season here, if you come by april, you don't have to worry about job, it might so happen that from the next day you can start working. I have a plan to work for 1 year and after that start my study.

I'm already missing my family, friends and my country from here, never thought I would though, but you'll never understand it unless you finally leave your country. But it's good if you have your wife and children with you.
Welcome to Canada! You are staying in one of the nicest cities in Canada. I used to live in there. Btw, you are a good observer, good for you. Stay well.

Dear mates,

One of my friend who holds OFFICIAL PASSPORT, is serving in GOVT. and his spouse is Canadian residence who want to sponsor but as per rules only General Passport holder can apply. Is there any way, without reigning first from Government job how her spouse can apply for him as there is few challenges to surrender the current Official Passport and to get the new General passport.

Backgrounder — Information for Applicants to the New Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) selects immigrants based on their ability to succeed economically in Canada. After meeting eligibility requirements, applicants are assessed against selection criteria, also known as the “points grid.” There are 100 points available to applicants, with points awarded for official language abilities, age, education, work experience, employment already arranged in Canada, and adaptability. The current pass mark is 67.

After a thorough review of relevant research, an extensive program evaluation, stakeholder and public consultations, research and study of best practices in other immigrant-receiving countries, improvements to the FSWP were announced in December 2012. These improvements will come into force on May 4, 2013.

A pause on the intake of most new FSWP applications has been in place since July 1, 2012, except for those with a qualifying job offer and those who applying under the PhD stream. The pause will be lifted and an eligible occupations stream re-established on May 4, 2013.

While Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will not be accepting applications for the 24 eligible occupations until May 4, 2013, there are some new requirements that applicants can start preparing for, such as language tests and foreign educational credential assessments. The complete application process, featuring the new selection criteria, will be available on CIC’s website by May 4, 2013.

All individuals who are considering applying on or after May 4 should be aware that if their application does not meet the new criteria, it will not be processed. A prospective applicant should ensure they meet at least one of the following requirements:

● They have at least one year of continuous work experience in one of the 24 eligible occupations;
● They have a qualifying offer of arranged employment (*note changes to the arranged employment process were previously published in this web notice); or
● They are eligible to apply through the PhD stream.

If prospective applicants are confident that they meet at least one of the above requirements, they must also meet the minimum language threshold and obtain an educational credential assessment (if submitting a foreign educational credential).

Eligible Occupations List

The eligible occupations stream will have an overall cap of 5,000 new applications and sub-caps of 300 applications in each of the 24 occupations on the list.

Eligible occupations (with their corresponding 2011 National Occupation Classification code):

● 0211 Engineering managers
● 1112 Financial and investment analysts
● 2113 Geoscientists and oceanographers
● 2131 Civil engineers
● 2132 Mechanical engineers
● 2134 Chemical engineers
● 2143 Mining engineers
● 2144 Geological engineers
● 2145 Petroleum engineers
● 2146 Aerospace engineers
● 2147 Computer engineers (except software engineers/designers)
● 2154 Land surveyors
● 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers
● 2243 Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics
● 2263 Inspectors in public and environmental health and occupational health and safety
● 3141 Audiologists and speech-language pathologists
● 3142 Physiotherapists
● 3143 Occupational Therapists
● 3211 Medical laboratory technologists
● 3212 Medical laboratory technicians and pathologists' assistants
● 3214 Respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists and cardiopulmonary technologists
● 3215 Medical radiation technologists
● 3216 Medical sonographers
● 3217 Cardiology technicians and electrophysiological diagnostic technologists, n.e.c. (not elsewhere classified)

Minimum Language Threshold

All prospective applicants to the FSWP should first determine whether they meet the new minimum language threshold: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 7 in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). To prove language proficiency, a prospective applicant must take a third-party language test from an organization designated by the Minister and submit their test report along with their application to CIC.

Language test results will be accepted by CIC for two years from the date that they were issued by the designated organization.

CIC-designated language testing organizations include: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Test d’évaluation de français (TEF).

Third-party language tests are scored differently by each of the three organizations. Here are the scores on each of the tests that correspond to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 7 or higher:

English

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)

An FSWP applicant must score at least 4L on the CELPIP-General test in each of the four skills to meet the minimum language threshold.

A score of 4L on the CELPIP-General test corresponds to CLB 7. A score of 4H corresponds to CLB 8, and a score of 5 or higher corresponds to CLB 9 or higher.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

An FSWP applicant must score at least 6.0 on the IELTS General Training test in each of the four skills to meet the minimum language threshold of CLB 7.

French

Test d’évaluation de français (TEF)

An FSWP applicant must score at least 206 in reading, 248 in listening, and 309 in both speaking and writing on the TEF to meet the minimum language threshold of NCLC 7.

Arranged Employment

Previously, employers have applied for an Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO) from Human Resources Skills Development Canada when they wished to hire a foreign national on a permanent, full-time basis and support their employee’s application for permanent residence through the FSWP.

Starting on May 4, 2013, CIC will no longer accept AEOs in support of an FSWP application. Instead, most offers of arranged employment will require a Labour Market Opinion.

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)

Another important change that takes effect on May 4, 2013, is the introduction of the educational credential assessment (ECA). Prospective applicants may start the process of getting an ECA before May 4 if they are planning to submit a foreign educational credential. However, applicants should keep in mind the other program eligibility requirements listed above, i.e. whether they have a qualifying offer of arranged employment or are applying under the PhD stream or eligible occupations stream; and if they meet the minimum language threshold through a designated third-party test. Applicants who have Canadian educational credentials do not need to get an ECA, unless they are also submitting a foreign educational credential in support of their application.

The ECA process will help determine if the foreign educational credential is authentic and equivalent to a completed credential in Canada. For prospective applicants, the ECA can provide a realistic understanding of how their foreign educational credentials are likely to be recognized in Canada.

As of April 17, 2013, four organizations have been designated by the Minister to provide ECA reports for purposes of immigrating to Canada under the FSWP. Additional organizations may be designated by CIC in the future. The designated organizations are:

● Comparative Education Service;
● International Credential Assessment Service of Canada;
● World Education Services; and,
● Medical Council of Canada.

The Medical Council of Canada has been designated only for those principal applicants who intend to apply with specialist physician (2011 National Occupation Classification [NOC] code 3111) or general practitioner/family physician (2011 NOC code 3112) as their primary occupation in their FSWP application. Neither NOC code 3111 nor 3112 is on the eligible occupations list that takes effect on May 4, so this will only affect those applying under the PhD stream or with a qualifying job offer based on those NOC codes.

Applicants should contact the designated organizations directly for further information on their documentation requirements, processing times and fees.

CIC will only accept ECA reports issued after the date the organization was designated by CIC to provide ECA reports for immigration purposes (i.e. April 17, 2013). An ECA report will be valid for immigration purposes for 5 years from the date that it was issued by the designated organization.
