Badal Bhai, You are absolutely right. We face problem with the right hand driving in Canada.

Considering driving in two stages
A) Developing driving balance, basic driving, Basic mechanics and maintenance, road signs, driving norms, Safety issues : are Universal
B) Rules and regulations or Road traffic (What we call, by the book): Differs from right hand and left hand driving.

My idea is, if we know nothing at all, we require more driving session and pay more.
If we know basic driving and have a valid BD license, we get to road immediately, with someone holding G1/G, start driving lessons at local roads.
If you dont have BD license, and dont know driving, you pay to apply for the learners one there.

It might take a week most, to get accustomed with right hand driving, with their lane system for speed, lane changing and turning at nodes.
If we know driving, we actually cover the first stage and save time for more sessions from anyone.

My elder sister is in Toronto for last 4 years, (she got her G last October), while my brother in law Dr. Ebad keeps going every 4 months for 2 months stay. Both of them seriously insists my wife to get driving as much as possible. I think the intention had been to save time and money.
Probably the model works like 01 car with two insured in, life is easier with flexibility.

My architect friend Shuvo left August'12 and got G1 in 3 months and bought a Civic immediately, he insists cars are essential to get jobs and to move around with his two kids (7, 2).

Visit two web sites for jobs: Kijiji Toronto and craigslist ,
You will find 90% of the jobs require to have own transport and a valid permit.
For those who are keen for an idea about used cars, flat rentals, and other staff browse the above two sites. They are popular.

Salam.

100% agreed, and thanks for the details info

Dear forum members,

Just a polite notice to all.

Its a forum to express ideas and views.
Every post is the member's own opinion, (Please remember he/she is posting these to share with all, keeping in mind these would be of any help to others.)
It is very offensive if we use words that challenges someone, offends someone, hurts emotions.
Please dont post anything simply for posting and for useless debates.

This forum became somehow a part of our daily life (At least mine). Mean posts make me sad.

Before you post, please read and be clear what you want to convey.

Have respect for everyone. Choose right words and phrases.

Most of the schools might offer nearly same, so it's better to do your lesson in BD as good as you can. This will cost you less in Canada
Thanks

Dear forum members,

Just to share my discussion with my friend in Kitchener, Ontario to whom I have asked for winter clothing yesterday.

Recommends:
1. Maximum 10 to 12 set of winter clothes means coarse clothes per person, because these are huge costly there.
2. Woolen socks, boot socks or winter socks which is not good there.
3. Gloves for winter.
4. Boot, shoes.
5. Head Scarf Hijab.
6. Nakshi kantha for summer, light weight quilt or blanket for winter.
7. Aluminium crockeries (i.e. Delhi Aluminiium).
8. Hat.

I will discuss with her next with more of issues after getting PPR.

Shumon Vi, may be you have forgot to mention two agendas of our get together about light weight baggaging system to avoide suitcase as much as possible which will be problematic to store in house there. Also we have to buy a vehicle in most cheap rate to survive there from the starting, I don't know if there is any school bus which will bring our kids from our house, then we will buy vehicle later.

Please give your expert opinion in all of the aboves.

Thanks with best regards,

Mainul

Just 01 thing to share.

Its recommend to buy the pair of nice snow boots from a good store in Canada, its worth.
You need lot of walking in snow without hurting yourself.
The available Dhaka boots might not be appropriate for cold/ wet weather,
and the Chinese glue will come off , within months and again these are far too heavy to carry along.

One will avail free kitchen utensils from friends or you buy from a yard sale/ Garage sale mate, everyone through these away.

The other thing we missed to add from our adda was about buying bags/ luggage issue:

01. Apartments are usually tight in layout and have box beds unlike Bangladesh (You dont avail space underneath the bed).
02. Carry less suitcases, rather take cartoons with proper wrapping & labels. You can easily through them away and buy again if requires.
03. With 06 suitcases for a family of 03, (plus 03 cabin luggage) you find difficulty in storing these huge suitcases, they are expensive to buy and difficult to accommodate.

Mainul bhai, for toddlers and kindergartens one have 2/3 schooling options within walking distance (Within 1 km usually). They dont have school bus.
Someone has to walk, the problem is in winter. (Though you might have a friend to get your kids to school and back to home during rough days. But you need to pay mate :P. Nothing is free. My sister earns few quids pooling two kids nearby. In summer no worries.)

For higher schools they have transport, meals for day time schooling, but you need to pay.

Just browse Kijiji and craigslist to get idea regarding used vehicles and for so many issues. These are fantastic web sites.

Best regards, Shumon

Shumon bhai,
Thanks for important points. I took driving lessons from abroad but my wife from here. So I noticed the differences.

Last year I applied to get USA driving license to replace international driving license but I did fail on first exam though I have long experiences, I had to study a lot then only I passed.

My concern is yes, one can save CAD 1,000 but remember Allah forbid, if an accident then the cost will be much more. Usually it takes 2 days driving to adjust from right to left. But most important is measurement(who drives can easily understand). As I learn of left hand first so my left hand measurement is excellent but very poor at right hand and suffering for that.
Please stop comparison of cost between here and there. You will earn there, you will spend there. After going there never think how expansive than BD. Enjoy your life............. in the beautiful Canada!!!!!!

Take your decision accordingly.
