My sister and my dulabhai along with 3 kids took CAD 25,000 cash in hand without endorsing anything. My architect friend also carried 26,000 CAD with him without endorsing just couple of months back,
They declared directly at canada customs.
Probably I read in a leaflet, according to BD Govt. baggage rule, you can carry upto USD 5000 without declaring anything, legally. (But once an immigration officer asked me the money I am carrying and he endorsed those by hand signing on the last page of my passport!!!) If someone buys dollars for outside, its difficult to endorse them from any financial institute, they wont. They want you to buy those from them And the highest amount you can buy is 2000 USD anually. So things are pretty peculiar. But if you have any FC account, you can endorse limitless according to the account balance. (But usually we dont have Foreign Currency account).
Anyways if any more feedback on this light.........................on this confusing but important issue.
