Hi legalfalcon,
This is regarding "Application Status" message inside the "Check Full Application Status ".
In my GCkey previous message was under "Application Status"
-"You may not hear from us for a little while, this is normal. Most of the progress on your application happens closer to your estimated completion date"
But Yesterday it was changed to :
-"Make sure you read your messages and take action when we ask you to. This will help move the application process along. "
Can you have idea what is hapening in my application.....

Security is usually redacted in most cases when it is in progress or passed.

So has anyone been slapped with a 120 day extension from CBSA?
Today was exactly 30 days and I got a 120 day extension for the GCMS notes. I have now placed on order with IRCC.
Does this cause any issue with the GCMS ordered from IRCC?

I received mine in 30 days , 6 days ago. But the first one that I ordered last year took almost 3 months

IRCC and CBSA are separate agencies. So is requesting information from them.

Extensions are sought by each agency based on its specific requirements.

The 30-day time limit set in section 7 of the Access to InformationAct and the 15-day time limit set in subsection 8(1) of the Access to InformationAct are subject to section 9 of the Access to InformationAct. In particular, subsection 9(1) of the Access to InformationAct allows the head of a government institution to extend the initial period under the following three circumstances:

• the request is for a large number of records or requires a search through a large number of records and meeting the original time limit, under either of these circumstances, would interfere unreasonably with the institution’s operations;
• consultation is necessary and it cannot be completed within the 30-day statutory deadline;
• notice is given to a third party under subsection 27(1) of the Access to InformationAct.

This discretionary power is not subordinate to the mandatory duty to assist a requester. Consequently, the institution is not required to consult or obtain the requester’s consent when deciding whether or not to extend the statutory deadline. The institution is required to examine the circumstances and context of each request.

More than one extension may be taken, provided each extension is taken within the initial 30-day period.

Also, in most cases CBSA will release the information way before the expiry of the extensions, unlike IRCC that will wait until the last day of the extension to release the info, when IRCC used to seek extensions pre March 2021.

I have been. Felt like a slap seriously. Waiting 5 months just to know your application status, this is the world we live in.

I received one too last month. Wait five whole months just to get an application status update. Lol.

And by the time you receive the notes, it will be time to order a new set anyway.

Recently there was a news update going around that they were going to revamp the Status page in application profiles. I hope it comes through soon.

Until then, keep spending money and time to taste the Canadian bureaucracy.

It has already been initiated and will be implemented in the next few months

Digital platform modernization: IRCC indicated that it will be modernizing its digital platform in the next two to three years, with the first of several products to be available in 2021–22. This transformation includes improving the MyAccount portal, introducing push notifications and enhancing generic content on IRCC’s website.

Digital Platform Modernization – IRCC is actively pursuing updates and improvements to its MyAccount functionality to allow for better communication of case status updates to clients. The full rollout is expected in 2023-24.
