Sorry that I get into your discussion. But what if I have 4 blank activities with my name, then activity #5 says "security" and contains my name, and then #6 is the same as #5 but for my wife? Isn't it a sign of comprehensive SS?
All GCMS notes will have 4 activities, and that does not mean that you are in comprehensive SS.

Thanks a lot for your reply! I thought that I got into comprehensive SS as my security has been ongoing for two months already, so I started inspecting notes carefully and find these "suspicious" activities. Anyway, I ordered CBSA notes just in case. Hope to get good news before they arrive.

Hi @legalfalcon , I provided the bank statement with the necessary funds, but in local currency (not USD or CAD) and now according to gcms notes my Eligibility is marked "Review required" for the Funds. How do such cases usually progress? Will I be placed in the long queue with other "review required" applications just because of the conversion issue?

Many applicants have RR for PoF, and it doe snot mean there are any issues. As long as you meet the PoF requirements in any currency you are good. The RR is just a way of the analyst pointing to the officer to

I wrote a post on RR before and reposting it here:

Understanding “Review Required”

A lot of applicants see “review required” in their GCMS notes for eligibility. There are many theories floating around with regard to what “review required” means and if it is alarming.

Before I venture into explaining the significance, it is important to understand that each application goes through the following stages as per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the regulations (Canadian Immigration Law):

R10 – Completeness Check
Criminality
Medicals
A11.2 – eligibility
Security

Out of the above, the most important stage is eligibility. This is also the most time-consuming stage because your documents have to be verified, evaluated and assessed to ascertain that you meet the eligibility criteria for the program you have applied (FSW / CEC / FTW). To stream line this process and make it easier for an immigration officer (decision making authority), all applications are first evaluated by case analysts or program assistants. They review the documents and summarize it in the GCMS. If they have any concerns with any document or want the immigration officer to carefully look into a specific document, they will flag it as “review required.” It is the content of the note that is important here. If the review required is for a specific document, while the summary of the note says that an applicant has met the eligibility, or “ready to finalize” it simply means that while the applicant has met the eligibility criteria, but the specific document needs a careful examination form the officer before promoting (eligibility pass) by the officer.

However, if there are concerns, there will be a review required for the eligibility, and there will be no text to the effect “ready to finalize” or pass. The note will specifically state job duties do not match, or the employment cannot be verified, or the number of years of work experience claimed cannot be verified. This is where an application can land in muddy waters. But the final decision rests on the immigration officer. He may override the decision of the analyst / assistant or go with the analysis of the analyst / assistant.

Even in cases where the analyst / assistant is of the opinion that the applicant has met the eligibility, and there is no “review required,” the officer can replace it with his own opinion. Though rare, but it does happen. This is why the eligibility is only passed when an officer conclusively marks the eligibility as passed.

Finally, there is “review required” for PoF. This is the most common in many applications. This is because, the financial and banking practices of each country are different. Eg. Fixed deposits are know as Certificate of Deposit (CD) in the US. Similarly, treasury bonds, mutual funds, stocks, and many other investment vehicles are there. If your PoF anything other than a bank deposit, it is more likely that it will be marked as “review required.” Also, IRCC does not go by day to day fluctuations in FOREX. Instead, the Canadian federal government issued a quarterly conversion rate for all FOREX vis-a-via CAD. If your PoF is in a foreign currency, then you may have “review required” for the officer to make a determination.

Just because you have “review required” does not mean that you hit the panic mode. Instead, read the context in which it is there. If there is a concern regarding a document, you can send a replacement document via CSE. The most common reasons for RR are:

1. Work reference letter without job duties
2. Work reference letters missing all the details requested by IRCC
3. If you submitted a letter from a colleague because you were unable to get one from your employer, but did not have a LoE on file, this too will lead to RR.
4. Not sufficient work experience in the primary NOC.
5. Inability to verify your employment as your employer details are missing.

There are just some of the scenarios.

Hi, I have few questions. My case was totally fine until I got landing interview. Our ID address were not matching and I didn’t bring any proof of cohabitation. Then I got sent home, received Procedural Fairness Letter, replied, and got file transferred to Etobicoke ( it was in Mississauga). So:
1. In the part Application (the very first page) it said Interview Lang: Vietnamese and Interpreter required: Yes
-> Does that mean I will have relationship interview?
2. Correspondence: Out going then a blank page “ Page 7 is withheld pursuant to section 29 of the privacy Act”
-> what does that mean.
3. In one Note (after my landing interview failed) says: A file transfer is necessary. File will be transferred to CIC. Final case decision: File transfer required.
-> my file was transferred to etobicoke ( Primary office is Etobicoke and Secondary is Mississauga). Does that mean I will highly be interviewed?
4. Will the note come from mail have more info than from email?
5. I just sent in more proof of cohabitation. Should I order another GCMS note? I want to know if I will have relationship interview or what is happening with my case.
Thank you.
@legalfalcon can you reply me please? Thank you so much

@legalfalcon thanks for the reply. Appreciate really it. However, my concern is the delay the RR will cause to my application...even though its most probably just a conversion issue. There is also a note regarding my husband's previous marriage, that no documents are on file. However, there was no field to upload anything related to his previous relationship, so I thought it is not required and no ADR was ever requested. In any case, we have his divorce certificate ready whenever they ask for it, and he has no kids from the previous marriage.

I am attaching a part of the notes for your valuable insights. Thank you again!

Usually GCMS does not state SS. If you have 2 security entries, then you need not worry. There should be a total of 4.

You DO not have to inform IRCC of pregnancy. You only have to inform IRCC after your child is born, i.e. when your family composition changes.
Dear @legalfalcon ,

Thank you so much for your detailed e-mail. I have re-visited my GCMS notes and observed that under NOTES SECTION, I see s.15(1) and s.17 on top right corner. Could you please advise what is the meaning of s.17 ?

@legalfalcon ,

Just some additional information:

I have checked the act, which corresponds to Safety of Individuals (unless I am wrong) as follows:
17) The head of a government institution may refuse to disclose any record requested under this Act that contains information the disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to threaten the safety of individuals.

I was previously received an ADR on 8 March 2019, wherein I was requested to provide Military Records Table. I have provided the same table and on the notes it is stated that the table has been received and reviewed. It is that page of the notes, which contains s.17 in addition to s15(1)

Anyone familiar about the CAIPS NOTES issued after visa refusal? I was advised to file one for CAD 2500 but i think this is too much just to determine the real reason for denial.
I just got my refusal letter today, :(:(:(

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

I applied for a student Visa - SDS

I just realized that I had changed my NOC post ITA to 2173 from 2174. Re-reading the job duties it feels like 2174 was the right choice. What should I do? I ordered notes last week.
