Alhumdulillah i have been asked to submit my passport .

Adil do they take your old passport and tear it apart or they give it back and now you will have two passports? issuing authority is AD , so if he signs , u r done and ur case is now in Islamabad .

I went in march so I can have the new passport before even applying for visa but it was a mess there. If I can have my old passport as backup then I might apply for the new one too.
Your old passport always remains with you. This is a standard global practice. It is never torn. If you apply on paper, you are REQUIRED to submit all older passports as well. In practice, embassies attach all of your passports together by stapling them. I have got 3 with history plus several visas.muchobliged said:

My passport will expire in 2015 and I don't want to give passport office my passport for processing so they can give me a new one after million yrs. If your passport has been empty i.e. no visas or travel history, it might not be as important. But still nevertheless embassy would require it even if you have a newer one made. At no point, you would have to GIVE it to any one when applying for newer passport. They would just see it, note any info needed and return it to you.muchobliged said:

I would say Adil was lucky or there is some other reason that his passport was not stamped. Basicaly what you can do is, check with passport office, if they tell you they won't stamp it yet, you can apply for newer one and if you dont get that in time, apply with the old one.
However, i would still favor keeping your current passport and getting it updated latter and then apply for visa renewal.
alhumdulillah passport has been made and delievered to karachi from islamabad.
in sha Allah by tomorrow i should get the visa from Passport Office Khi and then submit to the embassy.

as T$ send the new1 + photo copy of the old1, and alhumdulillah got the visa too.
so i should follow him , as uptill now i have followed him blindly

Did you visit the passport office recently? I inquired last week from an agent he said about a month it will take for urgent and if you're lucky then 20 days. He told me that machines are working and yes they are clearing back logs too but they are entertaining new ones too and processing times have increased, I confirmed this from another person who works in that office 17 grade officer.muchobliged said:
