This seems to be about background checks for immigration purposes. Is this the same for Study permit? 3-8 months is way too long! My program starts in January and this is not very encouraging

Alhamdullilah! I got my visa today. Totally overjoyed and so, so relieved. I was worried that I would be missing classes but luckily, that is not the case. Many thanks to everyone on this forum who tried to help.

Waiting for this visa has been very stressful- not only for me but for my family too. I guess I whined and ranted about it alot!
I know that each visa case is different. But still, I kept searching and reading posts on this forum to find answers and in a funny way, it kind of helped.
So, here I am, posting my timeline below with the aim that if there is someone out there, waiting and stressing out about his/her visa then hopefully, my post would help keep him/her positive

Study visa application submitted to CHC London
Submitted: 21st Sept, 2012
Processing time written on CIC website at time of submission of application: 9 weeks
Sent inquiry to London office on: 27th Nov, 2012 i.e. on 10th week
London replied saying file is undergoing background checks
Visa issued: 4th Dec, 2012
Received in post today!
