Now Alberta is down due to low oil price. Most of the companies are laying off people this year. Hope it may improve from next year once oil price increase.

For this year and next year - ontario is better

Alberta was good one, but we have oil price issue so that many people lost their jobs.... it's huge number.

Hi. As a prospective job seeker, I'd like to know which province has a more balanced job market. So that fluctuations in any one commodity don't result in the instability of the economy.
So far I'm guessing Alberta is most vulnerable to changes in oil prices, but surely the future of oil will be far more stable, right?
Again, I'm not experienced in any of it, so I'd appreciate if anyone could clarify.

job surge in alberta is due to oil prices what that means there is growth and then there is growth due to oil prices. if oil is not high then people lose jobs in oil industry and that being a large industry these people will flood the market of other jobs too. so there is growth in ablerta other than due to oil but it cannot offset the loss of oil industry ru getting the point. ontario has lot of varied industry as compared to alberta. again this is current situation and it could change is oil prices go up.

@ mead

Thank you for your detailed answer. Much appreciated.
And I understand exactly what it is you're saying. So I suppose the best time to work in Alberta would be when there is a boom in oil prices and higher demand for it as well. But that would be relatively short-term, and will have negative impacts later on.

Alright, thanks again for answering.

also keep in mind lots of immigrants go to ontario so ontario market is flooded too. so in nut shell there is no one great province to go to. Just select the right education and the right college/university u want to go.
