Hi

I am working as field engineer and I was confused what code to use. I work for a pipeline inspection company and provides corrosion services too. My Masters is in Mechanical Engineering and some of my job is in inspection of pipe and other is in corrosion. I was wondering if I should apply with NOC 2132 (mechanical engineering) or NOC 2142 ( corrosion engineering ). I was planning to apply with NOC 2142 but it is not in AINP strategic recruitment stream. So, kindly let me know if I should give it a try with Strategic stream and if it does not work apply with NOC 2142 with international student criteria ? Which NOC code should I choose ?

Thanks in advance

As per yesterdays update on their website, those streams are closed. you may have to wait a bit for the update.

Strategic recruitment is better than international student. You need to have a dregree from a University in Alberta for this. This isn't employer driven, international student stream is.

Yesterday, they announced that they would be closing those streams and what not. Big changes in the AINP system are about to happen. They won't do first in first out anymore but rather depending on your NOC. However, for some reason most of the links weren't working and after about an hour, the site went down and now it's back up but the news in the page aren't there anymore. All this was in the official AINP page, keep that in mind. So it's most likely that these streams will be suspended any time now. Also, they mentioned that if you applied before they cancelled them, they would still process your application using the old criteria.

how do I choose my NOC code if it is in between both 2142 and 2132 ? Also, 2142 says material and metallurgy engineer. I have master in mech eng and specialization in material. Which code do i choose. Shall I try strategic stream first and if it does not work out apply with international?

They are planning to close all the streams is it? What do you recommend I wait and see or should I apply in some stream? If so which one should I choose and how?

It is gonna be FIFO, as long as your sector and occupation haven't reached the limit.

just wait one or two week to see what change AINP make, yesterday they update their official website that they will close all streams, and the new stream will be coming ! the same situation as CEC official website updated news that cap filled and then they delete that news !

1) "www(.)albertacanada(.)com/expired-ainp ( . )aspx" I went to this place but there is no info about closing.
2) Also, should i meet a immigration representative to find out which code is good for me?
3) If I apply with strategic and it does not go through later shall i apply for international ? Do you think this will be negative or should i give it a shot ?
4) Do you think new streams would be launched ? I know you cannot predict but do you think waiting is better or filling with this is better?

Your NOC should be based on your duties you perform at your job!
