Asking for your help. Currently, I am working in Edmonton, Alberta. But my working permit stated that my address in work is Lloydminister. These are my questions.

1. I started working in Canada as kitchen helper. Since I was promoted, they renew my working permit from Kitchen helper to Cook last December. Will I be qualified to apply in CEC? or do i have a chance to be nominated in AINP?
2. If I am eligible to apply in CEC. when can i start to pass my application?
3. Is there any problem with my working permit since I was assign in Edmonton but my working permit is stated that my location i Lloydminister?
4. Worst comes to worse, I am not qualified in CEC and AINP, any program that i can apply to be permanent resident in alberta?

Thanks in advance

hi asdmhee,
From my understanding,
1. CEC has canceled the six-category, including cook, so you can not use cook as your tile to apply CEC, get the file number does not guarantee, FN is the first step and done by CIO.
2. if you are eligible to apply, when they ask you to do the medical exam, that mens your case is ok.
3. for the working permit, i am not sure, coz mine is open work permit,
4. i think you can still apply Alberta Nomination, from my understanding for your words, i think you have already submitted your provincial application, right?

Check CEC website and pay attention to the announcements from last year, they have canceled some categories to apply. Hope that help, ask other people in the forum, i am sure someone knows.

Thanks in advance

Thank you very much to your reply. I have'nt yet applied provincial nominee, as I am very anxious about the conflict of the actual place I work. One thing is that my employer are not trying to help their foreign workers to be nominated. So I wonder if I am not qualified for CEC right now, and my employer not doing their part to help those employee to be nominated, what are the options or programs that be suited for my experience for me to be able to get a permanent resident. Thanks again.

Guys, my work permit will expire this sept.2014. When do you think is the best time for me to apply for an extension? Or should I just wait for the approval of my PR application? But it seems like the processing time for inland applicants is taking a lot longer than usual. I'd love to think that my status here in Canada will change to "permanent resident" before september comes though.
Your comments are really appreciated!

right now it takes 6-8 months for the federal processing, you will probably get PR before your work permit expiries. You can wait till IP, coz from IP, it will be soon to get PPR, good luck

bukyder, hopefully you will receive your PR before your work permit ends but just in case, you can just apply for an open work permit this coming june using your UCI...that meaning you dont need to acquire an LMO from your employer...it should give you enough till your application is done and will give you more option if ever you wanted to work somewhere else...hope this helps

asdmhee,

Unfortunately, As of November 9, 2013 CIC has stopped accepting applications for Cook (NOC 6322) and Food Service Supervisors (NOC 6311) under CEC Category. According to CIC, they have a large inventory of applications in these occupations and will continue processing them to final decision. I am a Food Service Supervisor in one one of the fast food industry here in Alberta. Fortunately for me, I was able to applied in one of the pilot project under AINP-AWE (Alberta Work Experience) which was already ended last November 28, 2013. Your only chance to Permanent Residency is to apply under AINP Employer-Driven Stream in which your employer is require to nominate you for your eligibility.
Good luck and hope this helps.... :) :) :)

Let me correct you Netblizz, as a Cook nobody can apply under employer-driven category of AINP, it is an ineligible occupation. See at the bottom of this link. http://www.albertacanada.com/opportunity/immigrating/ainp-eds-skilled-worker-criteria.aspx
A cook can only apply in AINP on their own under the Compulsory and Optional trade category.
Please see the link for the guidelines.
