Hello. For the new Alberta Opportunity Stream, it requires my current occupation must be related to my field of study. I graduated from a phd program in Alberta. PhDs usually have a very narrow, specific fields of study which match very few industrial jobs. Most companies hire PhDs for their transferable skills rather than their cutting-edge researches. So my question is how related is "related"? Are a epidemiology degree and financial analyst considered related? Or a medical imaging degree and programmer (software engineer)? How about a chemical engineering degree and laundry detergent sale?
