Agriculture employment in Alberta.

Hi all.

I'm a first time poster...

My question to you is can anyone tell me if there is much demand for primary industry work?

I have a Diploma in Agriculture, and have at least 15 years cropping, cattle, sheep and farm management experience.
I also have IT experience and qualifications as a network engineer/desktop support.

Not particularly interested in goring back to working with computers.

My wife a Canadian from Edmonton want's to move back to live. We both currently live in Victoria, Australia.

Canada has a huge agriculture industry, bigger than Australia so I thought it might be the same over there.

We have a beef cattle ranch, grain farm in southern Saskatchewan, and are presently looking for an individual experienced with farm machinery, cattle handling both on ground and horseback. We live in a rural setting, 2 hour drive to nearest city. Persons interested must know that our work load is seasonal, when we are busy we work long and hard hours, when times are slack we play hard. ie-April-July extremely busy with calving, cattle moving, crop seeding, field work, crop spraying. Then July through Mid August our quietest time, lots of time at lake fishing, swimming etc. Late August , Sept, October very busy again, grain harvest, cattle weaning, shipping calves. November, December is fairly quiet again, Jan through March about 4-5 hours day feeding cattle, bedding pens etc. For the right person will help with finding accommodation, and renumeration will be reflected by applicants abilities.
