Another member brought this up and i was wondering what the average age is of people applying?

Has it caused you any problems?

How are you coping/did you cope with the visa process?

Are the younger people finding it easier or harder to relocate their whole lives?

I think i was probably one of the younger ones! I got my PPR 4 days before my 20th birthday. The only problem my age has caused me really is that my UK drivers licence was one of the new EU ones and the driving licencing place here didn't recognise the new style of licence when i tried to insure my car!

I'm 45 and he's 53. I suspect that our ages helped with our application, because we've both been married before and didn't want to do it again. We'd also been in a long distance relationship for 5 years before applying. I found the waiting and worrying part very difficult. In comparison to finding a job and all the hoop jumping for getting my credentials assessed, the application and processing seems like a piece of cake now.

I'm 32 and my partner is 38.

We are finding all of this difficult, but mostly also because I'm pregnant, so that adds another whole wrinkle to the immigration stress, and especially having the timing of the baby's arrival and my partner's PR approval both completely out of our control....like, our lives are going to change in such big ways, and we can't really plan either one aside from knowing the general time-frame for each....

Silver_Spirit;

The only problem my age has caused me really is that my UK drivers licence was one of the new EU ones and the driving licensing place here didn't recognise the new style of licence when i tried to insure my car!
Do you mean the pink card with the 'UK' inside the Euro stars instead of the old paper copy?

I've been driving now 15 years, but because I moved house, I had (was forced) to 'upgrade' to the newer card and paper combination.. I have just submitted my application but starting to look into all the next stage things to do, driving licence being one of them...

By the way, I'm 33 and my wife (sponsor) is 30, we don't foresee there to be too many problems, the visa process so far has been stressful but tolerable as we currently live together here in England.

rrdiggy76 - Yup, i wasn't aware there was anything different about it compared to my dads new photocard licence from a few years ago, but they didn't recognise it and took some convincing! When i went in to officially change it i brought in a page from the DVLA showing the licence just in case :p

minna - Hopefully you are one of the shorter processes so you can be together and start planning out your life before the baby comes along!

Allison - I had also been with my husband for 5 years and had no issues with the process so hopefully that was what helped! Im just starting to look for a job now and am finding the costs of the first aid courses and police checks i now need to redo (they expired just as i left england) to be the hardest bit for the moment! I need to get another police check for my home country as 'i had to get one to get my visa' wouldn't quite convince people i don't think! :p

age matters depending on the country. if its normal for people to have huge age difference in the society then its ok for immigration officer.

My partner is 33 and I just turned 50. I don't think I look 50 and I don't feel like a 50-year-old. Anyway, we are definitely older than 20. My partner was living in Florida until he came on an extended PR-awaiting visit with me at the end of January. He's actually closer to his relatives in the NE United States than he was before, so that's easier for him in a way. He got laid off from his Florida job, so he doesn't really miss Florida that much.

I am the applicant, I'm 28 and my Husband is 38, we have an age gap of exactly 10 years 2 months and 1 day! We have been married for 1 year now and been together in our relationship for 5 years in October 2010...I am hoping the length of our relationship is going to help in a big way..we also have a 3 1/2 year old daughter together..and I have 2 stepsons that I get on really well with..We have only spent 6 months and 1 week apart..my Husband has supported me financially in Canada for the past 4 1/2 years! We hadnt planned to wait this long to apply..however a lot of curve balls have been thrown at our relationship already! I have pretty much moved my life to Canada and will be hard for me to return to England if I have to! And I have an employer ready to hire me when I have a sin.

So far our application has been processed pretty quickly, I think this maybe because I already have a file with Immigration..but there is plenty of time for hold ups! My Husband was approved to sponsor me in 29 days and 2 weeks later my application started getting processed in London England!

We are close in age, I am 34 and my husband is 36. We have been together over 2 years now, and married since March of this year.

I'm the Canadian sponsoring (36). My American husband is the applicant (51). Married since last year and together now for almost five years. Both financially stable and established professionals. We're outland through Buffalo and hoping for relatively speedy processing. Husband spends the majority of his time now in Canada visiting me since he's semi-retired. He crosses the border often and hasn't had any issues (I highly recommend the Nexus card to anyone who may have a similar plan). However we are very much looking forward to making his status official since this will give him health care, allow him to take short contract jobs here, and remove all stress from the border crossing (more my stress than his).

I'm the sponsor (26) and sponsoring my husband (25). He's 7 months & 16 days younger than me. I never though I'd date a man younger than me let alone marry one but I did it. We were in a long distance relationship for 3 1/2 years before marrying in Dec. 2009 and we couldn't be happier... ;D Well we could be happier, really, if we were together and not going through this long and gruesome sponsorship process. :(

Any woman here as well younger than their husband?

Both my sponsor and I are 20.

He was born about 6 months before me though.
So nice to see another young applicant successful in this process.
