Age requirements - Working Holiday program - Help

Hi,

I am an Australian interested in relocating to Canada on the working holiday program. A couple of friends who have done the same thing have recommended it as they have found it to be quite easy. I am dating an American and the process of relocating to the USA seems complicated and stressful. We are more interested in moving to Canada together to live and work. We both visited Vancouver BC last year and loved it.

I have read information about the working holiday program and while i believe i meet the requirements, the one thing that is confusing me are the age requirements. I think this may be my downfall and I'm really hoping that it isn't.

I am currently 27 turning 28 in May this year. Ideally, we would be looking to make the move in 2014. I understand the age to apply is between 18-30 years. If i applied at age 28, and the 2 years passed - and hypothetically, i loved it and wanted to reapply for another 2 years, would i even be allowed to because the age gap has lapsed past 30 years? Or does it only matter about the age when you initially apply?

Any help, advice or reassurance would be appreciated.

Maddy

If you're over 30, you can't reapply. The age restrictions are the same regardless of whether you are applying for the first time or reapplying.

I believer you have until your 31st birthday..

I applied for my work visa just before i turned 31. It was approved. Once it is approved - you have a year from the date of issue to enter Canada on the Visa.

I applied in Feb, turned 31 in May and entered Canada in October.

Technically I was older than the requirements, BUT i had applied within the guidelines.

Im pretty sure it is still the same.

I believe Aussies can apply for multiple visas, but you do have to fit the age groups.

If you time things correctly, you could apply for 3 before 31..

Apply before turning 28 - move to Canada 28yo and 29yo, apply again once the visa is expiring.. Another 2 years!
